Very busy, good sign. Fish and chips were really good; very fresh. Fast service despite being flat out. Only complaint would be they use ham steaks/​plastic bacon instead of actual bacon on the burgers/​toasties. False advertising really. Wouldn’t have ordered had we known it was this gross substitute.

I’ve never had fish and chips from the Mairangi Bay Fisheries but their selection of fresh fish is outstanding. I’ve always found it to be fresh and reasonably priced. BIG tick from me!

I do have a thing for fish and chip shops set near beaches, so that’s three stars already in the bank for Mairangi Bay Fisheries — I’ve been here more than I care to admit at the end of those hard beach days wanting some greasies over which to savour the last light of a long summer day. That’s how I’ve always liked fish and chips best. Of course for that to work out well, you need quality fish and chips, and I speak from experience in saying that Mairangi’s shop does it very well. Probably something to do with the fact that it’s also a fresh fish shop, the fish is always fresh and the chips are done just how I like — get the crumbed snapper, it’ll make you wax nostalgic.

Lines and lines of people waiting! This is what I saw on Friday afternoon. Busy people sick of cooking waiting for their Friday night treat of Fish and Chips.
I’ve ordered food from here a number of times. It sounds silly but I always feel like the fish and chips here would be of much better quality because of the way the store looks. There’s lots of fresh fish in the window starting at you with googly fish eyes. I don’t really like fish so my substitute is a Hawaiian burger. I must admit the burgers are quite delish! Not too sloppy as you come to expect from fish and chip shop burgers.
Also, even though this place is always packed I think the linees move relatively fast and the orders don’t take too long to make! Quality meal for a lazy Friday night!
