Matsu Sushi

Healthiest choice at Westfield Mall, located in the food court. Large selection of sushi, quick service, authentic flavours. Along with teriyaki chicken, I can never go past the Inari pockets filled with brown rice and black sesame seeds.

Ok… so the first time I came here I wasn’t expecting much. After all it is a busy sushi shop in the middle of a hectic mall. I ordered the Chicken Terriyaki (as usual) and waited patiently for my light to spark up to tell me my order was up. I’d paid $ 13.50 for my meal so was thinking it would be pretty yummy. Well yummy was an understatement. This thing was amazing. It came out on a hot plate shaped like a fish. And my chicken was sizzling! I could see the sauce slithering around my hot chicken pieces and dancing up and down on the hot steel fish! Next to my fish plate of chicken was a cup of miso soup, a salad and some rice. It was a full on meal! I felt a bit weird eating it in the food court like I was in the wrong place and should have been in some authentic Japanese restaurant. My miso soup was surprisingly good… usually I find cheaper miso bland and always just luke warm. This was hot and tangy. The salad was good too and of course the rice was delish once lathered in my sizzling sauce. The only complaint I’d have is that I’m disappointed in myself because I have yet to finish one of these meals by myself because it’s pretty big. The time will come though… I’m working on it.
