I had the worst experience today at the College Hill Salon, with the owner. After my session I told the him that I didn’t think the bed wasn’t working properly, and I had been at the point of being cold during my session. I was met with blind defensiveness. He said that there was«nothing wrong with any of his beds» and kept advancing towards me until he was nearly pressed up against me. I am smaller than him, and I found this to be very aggressive. At this point I backed away, and started to retreat towards the door. I pointed out to him that I am just a customer making an observation, and was met with sarcasm and blind resistance to my experience. To say point blank that nothing is wrong with the bed is ignorant. There have been issues in the past, to the point Megasun was offering half priced sessions to compensate for these faults. It is such a shame, as previous to meeting the owner, I have only had such wonderful customer service from the staff. I have been a loyal customer of Megasun for a couple of years now, but this experience has made me rethink this and take my money elsewhere.

Megasun sells a controversial service, sunbeds. It’s a bit like selling gambling or specializing in cigarettes. We know it’s not very good for us but we do it anyway. The Megasun Ponsonby experience is very user friendly, with a comfortable reception area, friendly staff, and giant colourful suntanning machines that talk to you and play you music. There are also posters dotted throughout extolling the virtues of sunbeds from doctors, preachers and other pillar of the community, making you feel that little bit better about the whole thing. I like to turn up the tunes and pretend I’m sunbathing in Fiji, especially when it’s a wet and rainy winter’s day outside.
