Went there for dinner with family on a Thursday night. Our appetizer didn’t take that long, but our mains took more than 50 minutes. I had to ask several times for our mains, but they kept saying«it’s on it’s way» for 50 minutes. When it finally arrived, our waiter told us «this is how long it usually takes for lamb to cook». Now, I’ve been here before and there’s no way that this is usual. The manager later apologized saying there was an accident in the kitchen. Couldn’t they have told us earlier? I mean I wouldn’t have minded leaving the going to somewhere else if I knew I had to wait for an hour for my food! We paid our bill in full, there was no offer from the staff for compensating our long wait. My lamb came over cooked, dry to the point it was hard to chew. The service quality was appalling, food was over cooked, it just wasn’t worth what we paid for.

Went for breakfast early on a cold Monday morning. It felt cosy and friendly from the moment we walked in. Excellent coffee and the meals were beautifully presented and very tasty. I had the brioche French toast with banana and hazelnut– yum. Mr had poached eggs. The sign said they were café of the year for 3 years running. We say much deserved.

Went here for breakfast with a friend on a Saturday, so it was pretty busy. Despite that though we got good service with quick deliveries of menus, coffee and food to our table, along with water and the offer of cracked pepper. May sound just standard, but there are so many cafes out there now that just don’t do good table service, so this one is definitely a keeper. Coffee was good. I got a big breakfast and it was perfect. Nice ciabatta, spot on poached eggs, a real sausage and big portobello mushrooms. My friend had the hashcake with bacon, eggs, spinach, salsa and hollandaise and raved about it. Will definitely be heading back here!

Mission bay café previously known as «Mecca» is a café/restaurant. For one of the best flat whites in town do head here. My hubby and I usually head out to Mission Bay just for some nibbles, coffee and dessert at this place. Things I recommend — their cigara boregi which is fried/baked filo pastry rolled in the shape of a cigar stuffed with mashed potato, feta and some herbs. Their fries are quite yummy too with the cut a bit on the chunky side or thicker than your average chips and goes great with their aioli. For dessert, don’t leave that place without sampling their chocolate whiskey cake which is to die for. Their baklava is good when it’s fresh. On the whole a great little café in the heart of Mission Bay, Auckland where you can enjoy your food with the awesome views and buzz of the beach.

I come here to get my coffee/hot chocolate fix at mission bay and I’m yet to disappointed. Great service. Also been here once a few years ago for brunch and I don’t remember it being a bad experience. Outdoor seating on Tamaki drive is always great and tables hidden towards the back if you don’t want to feel crowded as the sidewalk can get pretty busy during the summer.

Mission Bay is a beautiful location to dine al fresco and you would do well to do so at Mission Bay Café. The food is much better than most run of the mill cafes and the quality is surprisingly high considering the great value. On a sunny Sunday morning with a slightly hazy head I enjoyed a great coffee while waiting for my fully loaded Grill. Chorizo instead of a ‘normal’ sausage was a nice touch, especially dipped in the salsa/chutney that accompanied it. A second mug of coffee rounded off my visit as I was hoping to make space for one of their great sounding desserts, but alas, I had to bail before my stomach could handle it
