My lovely hubby had fondly recommended this walkway to me on a few occasions and last week I made the effort to finally go check it out. It was a bit of a labryinth with crossroads of paths at one section and I had no idea what lead where, but I guess that is part of the adventure sometimes. The path I took lead me along the creek behind several nice big houses that took advantage of their backyard views with hammocks and deck chairs looking out at the Oakley Creek. It was shady and easy on the legs. I didn’t cross paths with anyone else along the way, until I came out at the Unitec entrance on Great North Road. This public walkway also had another entrance further up Great North Road, heading West that had a small playground. Now, by playground I mean a small patch of grass, a pair of swings and one park bench. A little bit close too such a busy road for my liking. Oakley Creek Walkway is obviously just a pathway between places for many, but for some people, like my husband, it is a nice scenic place to walk or run after a busy days work. And for myself, a nice easy stroll and place of opportunity to photograph some flora and fauna.
