This was our first time on the Sealink ferry across to Waiheke. Outbound we were on the smaller car ferry, was fun reversing up the ramp and manoeuvring into the tight gap we had. It was weird sitting in the car watching the boats go by as we slowly rolled with the waves. The return journey was on the larger ferry, this was much easier driving on and get into position. There are more facilities on board that the other ferry. It has a small counter which served drinks and had a small variety of snacks. On both trips, Sealink were accommodating in getting us on an earlier ferry than our booking.

Ahh had a little mix up with the online booking system but wasn’t too hard to sort out by calling up. The car-ferry trip to Waiheke is pretty cool! Departs from Half Moon Bay in East Auckland and is around a 50 minute ride from there to the vehicle ferry terminal on Waiheke(different from the passenger ferry terminal that leaves from Devonport/Auckland Ferry Building). There two decks on the ferry apart from the bottom level with the cars, and one is indoors and serves food(nothing amazing sadly.) Hefty price but its the only way to get your car over to the island!
