February 2015 I came down with bronchitis at the end of an 11-day cruise and had a 15-hour flight coming up in 3 days. The physician on duty here saw me quickly, prescribed a medication or two — it was all such a blur — and I coughed all the way home, but I was so grateful to have been seen so quickly!

I wasn’t planning on visiting Shorecare yesterday but these things do tend to pop up unexpected. I sprained my ankle on a night out dancing(I was partying a bit too hard) and although I was hoping it was just a sprain, I thought I’d better get it checked out just in case. I’d been to the old A&E clinic before. It was always seeming a bit tired and run down. Well this one is quite the opposite. Crisp, clean and brand spanking new. Of course the waiting game is inevitable at an A&E so I spent a fair bit of time in the waiting room, which I thought had a pretty funky layout. I watched the TV — very very old music hits were playing so it was a bit tedious — and waited. When I was seen I felt very taken care of and was supplied with crutches, sent for x-rays and given instructions on a speedy recovery.

For some reason I randomly just become allergic to things at inopportune times(seriously, I think whenever I’m stressed I obtain a new allergy — last time it was a rash before a big job interview), so Shorecare has been my saving grace more than a few times in life! You do pay for the convenience of 24⁄7 medical care, but in my experience I’ve always been looked at very quickly and given an good fuss-free diagnosis and everything I need to get better. Just a hat tip to the new premises too — the old Shorecare was down Shakespeare Road and was a bit run down, but this new place has really cool furniture and stuff — cool for a medical centre.

This has been my local Accident and Medical Centre forever. Literally, I have been coming here since I was a screaming baby in the night. It was only relatively recently that it moved down the road into a much flashier, much bigger, much more modern space. But the great thing is that the service and the faces are just as friendly and sympathetic. These ladies are lovely, they’re like mums — which is great when you;re not feeling good and all you want is a mum hug. If you’re in a lot of pain, they send you straight through and the communication is really good which is super important. If i’m in pain I wanna know how long I have to wait. No matter what time of the day or night you turn up, they’ll take care of you. I have had nothing but good experiences here, obviously apart from the reasons that I was here in the first place.
