Cleverly hidden away in Hillsborough is this little gem of a place with beautiful views. The art gallery itself and the gardens are spectacular and worth the visit. There are tracks around the ground which I have yet to explore but they look like they are well worth the hike. I will be returning to do this on a nice and sunny day. The café itself is pretty average. There is a decent selection of pastry, cakes, salads as well as a menu which is made to order. You will want to visit on a sunny day so you can sit out on the deck that overlooks their back gardens while enjoying your meal. The service however is excellent and we’ve had the servers check on several times during our meal to make sure we were ok.

A beautiful art venue in the heart of suburbia. This grand old home of the Wallace family contains a great selection of art and sculpture as well as hosting a number of regular art prize contenders. Worth a visit on a sunny or wet Sunday. It’s café offers liquid and cake filled respite along the way. B

Another ‘secret spot’ in the homeland, and also a perfect place for those Sunday afternoon family brunch outings! I was lucky to get a table outside, with a breath taking view of one tree hill and the neighborhood. The quality of your every day café food can be quite disappointing majority of the time, but thats certainly not the case for The Pah. Presentation, quality and most importantly, taste all meet high standards and i definitely reccomend this family-friendly café. The Pah is actually placed in an art gallery, make your afternoon even more relaxing by taking a small tour around the art gallery after your meal.

When my mum took me here for the first time I couldn’t believe I had never experienced this wonderful café before! I can’t quite explain what gives this place it’s charm but I think it’s a combination of the sunny outdoor seating on the deck, the view of the grounds and their delicious homestyle menu. Some of my favourite dishes from their menu are the maple granola, their chicken pot pie, their Devonshire tea and of course their fries because they are skinny fries! Their menu fits the style of the café perfectly it isn’t too adventurous just traditional, delicious classics all made with good quality ingredients including free range eggs and bacon. To really enjoy this café at its best you have to visit on a sunny day so that you can sit on the outdoor deck. I have a theory that vitamin D makes your food taste better as I always enjoy my meals the most when I’m out in the sun!

Dawson’s Catering look after this dinky little café, and it shows. The Dawson’s product has always been stellar — from the breathtaking Kelliher Estate venue to the new Auckland Art Gallery café, you can be assured that if eccentric Grahame Dawson has so much as given a café a passing glance, the food is going to be great and the coffee impeccable. It’s fitting that Grahame’s business has taken up the contract at this café, as it provides great food and amazing coffee as an accompaniment to the Wallace Arts Trust museum, which occupies the vast majority of The Pah homestead. It’s lovely to go and look at some truly extraordinary art and then settle in for a nice snack and a gorgeous coffee in the café. Ka pai, Dawson’s and Wallace Trust!
