I dropped by this relatively new spot on Vulcan Lane the other day, after wondering for weeks where exactly it could be! It’s literally a little window, blink and you might miss it… just look for a huddle of people on a weekday — they seem to have a lot of regulars from the nearby offices! I couldn’t decide if I should be annoyed or amused by the service here. The guys working are super friendly, but this means they are chit chatting away with the customers(particularly the ladies, let’s be honest) while a line is building up behind them. With just the two of them working, it makes for slowww service, but verrrrry friendly and personal service. Basically, don’t drop in for a quick takeaway coffee and bagel on the run, it’s more like a beachside café on island time at a takeaway window on Vulcan Lane. The bagel was pretty good — I got some kind of riff on a normal offering in order to get melted cheese and avocado together with some chili flakes. It’s not a giant NY style bagel(still haven’t found a proper NY bagel here, I know I know) but it’ll satisfy in the meantime. They were happy to mix and match their offerings, and their bagel/coffee special is the best deal in town(you get your coffee for $ 2 — whatever kind you want!) Only problem, you guessed it, the guys got chatting and my coffee was waylaid until I reminded them. Great coffee once I got it though!

My new favorite spot! Since I’m an American originally hailing from the East Coast, bagels are somewhat a staple in my diet. Vulcan lane bagels made me the most delicious breakfast and was very budget friendly. I ordered the salmon, lemon and dill and I’ll definitely be going back tomorrow to try the avocado mash! I loved how friendly the two staff were, definitely could tell they knew their customers by name and offered such an amazing personal touch.

Great hospitality and you’ll always be welcome with a smile. Excellent food, try the prosciutto melt! I love the hole in the wall places like this, you really get a feel of the Auckland community and vibe. Great place to quickly grab lunch or a coffee before work.

Best bagel I’ve had in a LONG time! My flat mate took me to this cute hole in the whole, we both got the avocado bagel and my mind was blown. The bagel was toasted beautifully then smeared with a decent amount of avocado, drizzled with lemon juice and chilli flakes. This is by far my new favourite quick bite in cbd. Along with great food we got great service, the guy taking my order practically begged me not to take the slightly warm gingerella, but I felt too mean to get him to run next door for a cold one. Over all it’s a pretty darn good bagel place!

Vulcan Lane bagels is the latest addition to what must be Auckland’s hottest lane… Il Bucco then Mojo then Cepage and now VLB… so hawt right now. I’ve only been for breakfast but I’ve got to say, their breakfast bagel is really something else. Scrambled eggs w thyme and prosciutto on a chewy, carby bagel. Delicious! I’d also recommend adding some of their homemade hot sauce. VLB are also serving Atomic coffee and baked goods. I’ve now got a legit reason to not eat breakfast before I go to work — thanks Vulcan Lane Bagels!

Pretty darn amazing, I must say! Vulcan Lane Bagels has just opened up right in the heart of the city, serving bagels with an array of toppings, Atomic coffee, cold drinks and pastries from Scratch Bakers. This place is a hole-in-the-wall, with a bench seat, room for only two people, so ideally this place was designed for on-the-go bagels! I came here for lunch yesterday, seeing as it is right across the lane from my work! It was incredibly busy when I arrived, however owner Ruben was friendly and welcoming and the other lady taking the orders was efficient. However, I could tell they were feeling the stress with so many people! After overhearing another customer telling his friends that the«chipotle beef was so delicious», I just knew I had to order it! Served with a fresh tomato and onion salsa, herbs and their homemade hot sauce, the chipotle beef bagel was absolutely melt in your mouth, to.die.for, scrumdiddlyumptious! I could have eaten another one(or two) it was that good! But watch out, it is spicy, and had me grabbing for my water bottle every few bites! I can’t wait to go back and try more of their toppings. Here’s a taste of what else is on offer: — Scrambled eggs, prosciutto and thyme(ideally a breakfast bagel — they open at 7am) — Pastrami with hot wholegrain mustard and smoked Swiss cheese — Avocado smash with lemon and chilli flakes — Peanut butter or nutella! Highly recommend trying out Vulcan Lane Bagels! Plus everything they serve is under $ 10 — absolute bonus!
