Formal setting and ideal for date and intimate lunch or dinner! Great view of shelley beach and quiet vibe. Friendly service! Had lunch — antipasto selection of italian &NZ delicates which is quiet good, but nothing exceptional. Smaller portion than I expected. Also calamari was nice, but small portion size. More like appetizer than main. Good for sharing~ Great selection of cocktails & wines. Checkout this place if you want somewhere quiet where you can eat & talk, no hassle of finding parking and good view of shelley beach!!!

Fantastic meal! Incredibly friendly staff. The only slight hiccup was the wait to order our mains. But this made up by everyone at our table loving their meals. I had the Mango Chicken… delicious.

You ask the locals what their poshest dining experience has been, and many of them will recommend The Windross. It’s like stepping into Anne of Green Gables, or some similar tale of an old-fashioned heroine. It has beautiful wooden floor boards and an air of elegance to it. It helps that this is right next to the beach, adding a sort of extra flare to it. The food, is of course, so delectably yummy. Not many places serve veal, but there you have it at the Windross. Also, it is an Italian menu, so be prepared for a lovely pasta and olive overload.

The chicken mango at Windross should not be missed if you’re having a meal here. The first time I tried this was on the deck with the best view of Cockle Bay, when the weather was just right and the sun wasn’t far from setting. While it was a beautiful night, my fondest memories were of the chicken mango. It was basically a dish with everything I love thrown in there; chicken, mango, camembert, potatoes and vegetables– it even made me dislike chardonnay a little less. And they did it so well; it was one of my favourite mains of the season. Windross, for me, is fancy and feel-good. It has all the ingredients of a fine dining institute but the locals and the staff are so friendly, calm and have great banter. This is one of the things that makes this place such a great experience for everyone.

I am a fan of Windross House. It reminds of something from The Notebook movie. That serene setting with that tranquility, calmness and ultimate elegance to it. This is the place you take either your grandmother for Sunday brunch, your girlfriends for afternoon tea, or your future in laws for dinner. Take someone here and they will think highly of you and your taste in fine dining. The establishment sits on a massive property overlooking surrounding greenery. The restaurant is a rustic, beautifully maintained, villa with recently remodelled interiors. There is also a wrap around balcony, and this makes more epic dining inside and out. The menu is quite impressive. Filled with classic meat, salad and pasta dishes, so there isn’t that much creativity but they deliver in taste and presentation. There is also a vast selection, and importantly plenty to choose for vegetarians. I am not sure where the cuisine influence comes from though because it goes from avocado shrimp to unpronounceable italian? /spanish? dishes. Still the ingredients and taste make it amazing. In all, a beautiful place to go to, and definitely worth a visit.
