This is a great place to spend a few hours in nature. This Historic Homestead is located right off of bustling Fendalton Road and Matai Street, but you would never know you were in the heart of a big city once you step inside the grounds. The area is serene and peaceful with a river rolling lazily along manicured lawns and tall shady trees. The Homestead itself is beautiful and offers tours, restrooms and a café, however I have not been inside. I visited Mona Vale for the Shakespeare in the Park experience to see MacBeth. I was underwhelmed by the play, but overwhelmed with just how beautiful the homestead grounds were. Come and bring a picnic or a book and just laze in the sunshine all afternoon. If you are traveling to Mona Vale by car, the entrance is off of Matai Street; pedestrian access only from Fendalton Road.

You can’t go past Mona Vale. It’s like a hidden gem in the middle of the city. The river, the trees, grass and flowers make for a perfect spot to sit and have a picnic or just to get some peace from day to day life.
