My aunty and uncle just live up the road from Hatfields Beach so we have spent many a Christmas Day playing cricket on the beach, swimming, fishing and enjoying the Kiwi Lifestyle at its finest. This beach is so nice and safe, great if the surf at Orewa and Red Beach is too much for young families. There’s always a boat out in the water and kids running along with skim boards. It’s also a good stop if you’re on a journey up north and need somewhere to have lunch or just to have a stretch and get some fresh air. With it being only a mere forty minutes from town you could even go up there for dinner during daylight savings. The road isn’t as busy now that the new motorway has gone through but I’d still make sure you keep an eye out when you’re turning, as there are a few blind corners.
