My husband had the lamb that was amazing, I had the betroot risotto, that was not so great. The service was excellent, the place is nice enough but lacked ambience. Small changes to fix this, maybe some more mood lighting, more care an attention to the music being played(80’s ballads not so great), and ensuring the place is warm enough. My favourite part was the complementary bread with truffle butter at the start of the meal. The truffle butter was a real treat. I probably won’t come back, for the price it was nice but not really special. I am more likely to recommend this place to people aged 50+ with a bit of $ to spare.

The most striking thing was the pace of service. We were able to enjoy each course without being rushed or made to feel our table was needed by the next booking. The background music was pleasantly pitched which also made for an enjoyable setting. The items we selected were really tasty though surprising at the low number of items to choose from. Overall a casual rather than fine dining experience. Will go again though won’t rush back.

Food well presented and delicious but not a wide selection. Would recommend the risotto. Atmosphere smart casual, relaxed. Well paced dining experience and service attentive.

I love the atmosphere at Taylors, the wooden floor and walls and the occasional signs to indicate that this was once a dentists. But most of all I love the food. Often inventive, and always beautifully prepared. I have never had a bad meal here, and a number of wonderful ones. The menu changes with the seasons and the mood of the chef, but if the BFG is ever on the desert menu — make sure you order it.

I have been here on various occasions and it has always pleased and amazed. I booked a table for the Wellington on a Plate event of August as soon as the program was announced, in fact I was their first WOAP booking. This place gets 5 for everything, all the aspects add up. I would place it in the bistro kind of category, as in, the kind of place you could wear a suit or smart jeans and a shirt and feel comfortable. I am not going to talk extensively about the food as Glen Taylor changes the menu all the time. I will say, try and try and then try. His understanding of flavours is amazing and beyond my thinking. I will tell you that I had one of my best desserts ever and it involved candied olives, you may begin to understand what I mean. Stop reading, get booking and then get eating. My blog has a full write up on a Wellington Foodies event. Not sure if I can put a link in here but the is one in my profile. How are there not tons of reviews for Taylors? Come on people.

Taylors is a fine dining bistro recently opened in Petone. We visited to celebrate my sister in law’s milestone birthday. Taylors goes for interesting and challenging dishes including ‘Pork Inspiration’, which quite a few at our table had that night — a delicious looking array of pork belly. I had the vegetarian option — pasta with seaweed(interesting flavours).
