Gloria Jeans

Not a bad latte considering it’s only a small outlet in the middle of a shopping mall. It was very sweet despite not ordering a vanilla version.

I generally like going to Gloria Jeans in Manukau. I really love their chocolate filled croissants and flat white coffees! It’s nestled quite centrally in Manukau Westfield, so you don’t need to trek too far to find the place. They have comfy seats and ample opportunities to do your people watching (people are so entertaining!).
Something that puts me off Gloria Jeans is their plastic cutlery and plates. I know they don’t have much of a kitchen to wash it all in, but in a time of increased need to recycle, it’s disheartening to watch them chuck more plastic into the endless wasteland of rubbish. (also it’s really difficult to cut things with a plastic knife! I only used that sort of thing for play dough as a child) How about installing a proper sink or make it all takeaway with paper bags?
Anyway, that’s my sustainable rant over and done with. These guys are still a good place to go. :)

Gloria Jeans in Manukau have made me some outrageous mango chillers in my time, and apart from their hazelnut mocha, are my two signature drinks when I visit. I’m very used to the staff here and their service is always efficient. There are a few seats and tables you can use if you’re having food and drinks there-they’re really comfy too, especially the booth-​style seating.
They’ve got a big selection of baked goods, the spinach and feta roll being another favourite of mine– but I certainly prefer their savoury foods over their sweet. The staff always offer to warm it up for you, where I’ve noticed that some places don’t do this unless you go out of your way to request it.
Occasionally, when I’m feeling a little daring, I try one of their new flavours and they’re usually pretty great! The changeover of new flavours/​promos is a bit more often than Starbucks and its usually a great twist on one of their classics.
Overall I do enjoy the service here and that mostly what keeps me coming back, just because I know the service is reliable and I know what I’m getting every time– you can’t go wrong with that.
