Very friendly staff and awesome ice cream (two scoops 4 $). But also burgers, nuggets and other food. Perfect after surfing or any beach activity.
Only negative are the seats which are very uncomfortable.

Miriwai Beach — famous for its magnetic black sand and gannets!
Located on the northwest coast of Auckland. It is home to a large colony of gannets. This beach stretches for 50 km! Be sure to take your camera, this spot is picturesque. There are mountain bike trails along with bush walks to take. The highlight really is the Gannets though. After, visit the café Sand Dunz where you can grab a burger or fish and chips or if you want to pay slightly more you can dine at the café (just inside the establishment). It offers gourmet style food and wine and beer along with a modern seating environment.

I have to be a fan of this place because i often surf at Muriwai Beach and being able to quickly run to a place like this after clambering out of a cold wetsuit is a god send. I’m not too critical of the food because I’m always starved when i come here and so it all tastes superb to me. It’s always very busy over summer and I think, considering this, the staff do pretty well getting everyone’s orders out.
You can sit outside in the sun if you are sandy and dripping like me. Or inside you will find a nice comfy couch in a room covered in beautiful paintings of Muriwai. Win win if you ask me.
Either way the best thing about Sand Dunz is the epic location!
