Great Spanish dishes. Full of flavor. We had arancini, croquettes, squid, meatballs and prawns. We enjoyed them all. Will definitely go back again.

We had a wonderful meal here and can totally recommend this little gem. Our table shared an 8 plate combination and every single plate was delicious! Some favourites where — the balsamic Brussel Sprouts, the slow roasted Spanish beef, the pork spare ribs, fried kumera chips with feta, the pear salad, the fried Camembert cheese, the rice balls and the rice balls. We really couldn’t fault any of the dishes we chose. We then indulged in dessert — the churros were delicious! In general we like the restaurant, the staff was friendly and despite it being quite busy our service was prompt. We will definitely be back because there was more I wanted to try!

A large group of us descended on Poco Loco for dinner, we were greeted with a friendly smile, a warm welcome and a big long table to sit at. Poco Loco has been around a while in Pukekohe and has enjoyed some success, notably a positive review in the Herald’s Viva Magazine, which proudly hangs on their wall. The place is small and quaint with rich colours of the mediterranean, complete with spanish music. A downside of having a large group is deciding what to order or how to go about it. Everyone wanting something and not others. Tapas loosely translated, means small plates, to be shared with friends or family. We decided that we should order one of everything on the menu, minus the chicken livers — the one thing that we could all agree on. The local Sangria made with red or white wine tasted great and I would be happy to order it again. A nice selection of beer and wine is available as well. Both New Zealand and Spanish varieties, for a reasonable price. After 30 mins or so out come the platter of food to share. A good indication of the quality of the food is when the conversation stops and everyone digs into the plates and helps themselves, and all that can be heard is knives and forks going against their plates and people asking to pass this dish or that dish. To be absolutely honest with you. I don’t know what we ordered, but I can tell you everything I touched tasted pretty good! Not a single dish had any left overs. Some of the group had dessert, others had coffee afterwards. I am a big fan of Crème Brulee so I decided to treat myself to this, not that I needed it after the dinner I had just shared. Dessert was just as great as the main and was quickly finished off. Pricing wise — I think these guys have it spot on. $ 13.50 per tapas plate or by choosing their platter specials you are getting a better deal than buying one or two plates. I am happy to provide the following scoring Food 4⁄5 — Honest and decent food here! Service 4⁄5 — Warm, friendly and accommodating Price $ 13.5 Per plate — Go for the Specials, it’s cheaper Atmosphere 4⁄5 — Vibrant colours and authentic music Overall — 4⁄5 — Bookings essential to avoid missing out

Great food, lots of choices and variety for everyone. Only down side is the portion size which makes the price add up by the end of the meal. Would have been a 4 star, but it’s a bit too expensive for what you get.

Poco Loco is the only Mediterranean/tapas place on this side of Auckland, and I must say the only thing loco about it is the portion size and price. I came here very hungry with 5 equally as hungry people on one sunny afternoon in the township. Whilst perusing the menu, we found that the separate mains were a bit too pricey, so we ended up getting the Tapas to share. We paid around $ 30 each. The food was really nice. But there was really not enough food. Everything was gone within five minutes of it arriving, and everyone was still hungry. We ended up getting some takeaways afterwards — not cool. The staff are great, but I wish the place was a bit cheaper and the portions bigger.
