We have been to this place multiple times and had such good service and food. we went again today and it was busy(as usual) and we ordered a light lunch, it was out of the cabinet because we were in a rush. we ordered and paid. sat down. one lady comes up to us and said«sorry we don’t make ham and cheese toasted» we were taken a back, how hard is it to put two prices of bread, ham and cheese together. she asked the chef and came back about 5 minutes later and said that the chef would custom make one for us. our food came out in a timely fashion — except one meal, kept waiting and nothing. went and asked where it was they said we hadn’t ordered it, didn’t apologise and said if we wanted it we would have to pay for it, we agreed, came out and it was still cold, they hadn’t even heated it up. most of the other meals were still cold in the middle, food was bland. however coffee was good. if this was my first time coming here I wouldn’t come again. also, 3 of the 4 salads had dressing on them and we asked for the 4th one to have it because the others had and worker said he’ll see if he can find any, and didn’t return. highly disappointed in the service and food. will not be returning.

Quaint chocolate store and café. What we sampled was excellent. Would make a nice pairing if heading to wineries or as a nice gift. Great staff

Chocolate Brown is delicious! It’s in two parts; the chocolate gift shop and then the café. The gift shop is amazing, with a huge variety of beautifully crafted chocolates. They have a whole section of ‘healthy options’ sugar free, dairy free and nut free(good for my diabetic Granddad). There’s also a section for baking; the chocolate baskets are brilliant for homemade desserts. And then there’s the café. Don’t worry it’s not all chocolate here(although they do the best Mocha I’ve ever had!). They have a great menu and full cabinet for brunch, lunch and afternoon tea. The Eggs Benedict(Green eggs and Ham) is scrummo, served on homemade hash cakes. They also do an interesting cauliflower salad, salmon filo pastry, and melts(with real thick cut ham). One thing I was surprised to see in the cabinet were cheese rolls. Famous in the deep south, it’s the first time I’ve seen them in the North island, so that was a treat in itself!
