Mac’s Brewery

In New Zealand, my beer of choice was Mac’s Gold. Restaurants, airports, fish and chip stands, pubs… it’s like ordering a Brooklyn lager in Brooklyn. The beer is fine, but I like the logo and typography more.
This pub by the waterfront in Wellington has a very spacious outdoor patio to enjoy the many varieties of Mac’s. I can imagine this place being a very popular after work spot, if drinking with coworkers is your thing.

Beautiful selection of beer… Average bar… A bit crowdy but worth trying… pretty good food menu… Large smoking space. Love the view

The beer is decent and there is a relaxed atmosphere. I love the colourful décor and leather couches by the fireplace. The location near the water ads to the ambiance; its a great place to relax after taking in the nearby museums and view.

The Sassy Red is delish (I also heard it’s a staff favorite)

The quality and variety of beers at this place is awesome. I tried a few and they were all good. It would only be possible to try all of the on several trips or a bender of some kind.
The food was a different matter. Both my dining partner and I both felt the meals we had were quite bland. Pork belly and oven roasted chicken breast respectively. The potato gratin with the chicken was quite tasty but the rest not so much. In the chicken meals defense I did not eat the chicken skin and skipped adding any salt.
However the menu has plenty of other options available and I would still come again and try one of the other meals with an array of beers.

A wee bit chilly in Wellington when we went but we sat on the patio and the view is amazing of the harbour.
We went inside to order and the *hunkiest* guy came to take out order… OK, Australian and New Zealand men have it going on between the accent and the abs but I digress… We were talking about food right?
First, we were at the brewery so of course we got the beers. Mom ordered the dark because she’s all into the dark and more «flavourful» beers. She loved it. I had one of their gingerbeers before in Napier (another town) so I wanted to try something else. I had the pear and feijoa (some random berry) and it was awesome. Quite light and refreshing.
As per recommendations, we ordered the fish and chips and the mesclun salad. The salad was pretty good. Lightly dressed with a variety of salad/​lettuce like vegetables. The fish and chips were DA BOMB. Firstly, the fish was beautifully crisp and gooey on the inside. I did have to ask for malt vinegar… They did give us a lemon but it was a sweet lemon, which was a little weird. Secondly, the fries. I have never finished a plate of fries in my life and I devoured them. Now, I don’t think these fries are any different than the fried we get in Canada so maybe it’s the potato… anyway, don’t know but it was ridiculous how tasty it was.
So highly recommended. The location is great. The view spectacular. The food tasty and so are the men! Yummy!

Love MAC’S Brewery! Great beer and great food. The view is so nice and they have a good bar too. It’s a must when visiting Welly. It is slightly pricier than other places but nowhere overly expensive.

Schöné Hausbrauerei im Hafengebiet von Wellington. Der Pub ist traditionell eingerichtet und sehr gemütlich. Die Aussenplätze sind zum sehr quirligen Hafengelände gelegen. Die Mannschaft ist schnell und freundlich. Wifi ist frei Dafür kosten sowohl Speisen als auch die Getränke durchaus überdurchschnittlich.
