I’ve been here a total of four times, placed upstairs next to the Reading Cinema, the Steer and Beer is a great little place modelled after american frontier and maybe some Australian outback? The décor is tastefully minimal and the positioning(by the cinema) probably brings the crowds during the evening. I’ve tried the steak, the ribs and of course the chicken and I have to say the meals were good, but the chicken was superb. The service was good every time, and while it doesn’t quite reflect the american service culture the staff were friendly and quick. I would recommend it for a simple meal after a movie or just a visit on a night out.

Today was my first time here as I’m visiting New Zealand! Went for lunch and only had access to the lunch menu but the food was still great and the service was excellent!

Classic american food, very nice and not healthy but who cares haha. Located in Reading Cinemas, it’s a good place to go just before or after a movie. The price is alright. The staff is lovely.

This restaurant is situated inside a cinema complex, and adds a little class to the place. We were asked by the person who seated us, then the person who took our order whether we had time constraints due to movie plans. In spite of saying we had plenty of time, we were served very quickly. We ordered pizza with chicken and plum sauce. The toppings were delicious, but the pizza base was thin and floppy. Staff are great and very friendly. We followed up with banoffee pie which came with real cream and was very nice. Finished with flat whites, which were almost too strong to drink. You should never get coffee served up like that unless you ask for a triple shot.
