I use this station about twice a day. I love the fact it is quite small(compared to Centraal station and eg Clapham Junction!) It has 4 platforms and a metro station. It also is close to tram #5 and bus connections Fantastic bike parking you cycle down into. There is also an OV fiets pop-up store now. There is an Etos, brood, kiosk, Starbucks, sissy boy clothing store, an Albert heijn, Julia’s pasta the metro entrance side. There is also a wagamamas, Simon Meyer and a number of other shops, eateries and bars at the approach to this station and as pat of the World trade centre. The expat centre is also in the WTC so it may be one of the first places you go to if you move to the Netherlands :)

For what it lacks in grandness, it’s an okay station with decent signage and simple to navigate. It has automated kiosk to buy a pass which we used and had no need of help from a station staff. So all is automated. The tracks are not high above anything and everything is labelled. I didn’t pay too much attention to all the details and only passed through this station once. I didn’t see any graffiti for what I can tell as a smaller station. What I like are all the restaurant in the plein/plain itself including the De Broodzaak in the station which serves yummy sandwiches and the self-serve machine that with a coin or two, squeezed me up a nice glass of fresh orange juice. It’s a train station but what it serves is a clean atmosphere, simple to use and convenience. Nothing more but simple and availability.

What’s a Zuid? Not sure, but Google knows! :) According to Google, it means«South» in English. That’s awesome, I suppose! My travels through Amsterdam barrels through to the Zuid train station in central Amsterdam aptly called Amsterdam Zuid. I came in and out of this train station from taking the Sprinter train from Hoofddorp for 3 consecutive days. It was one of the closest train stations to the Olympic Stadium, where the annual Amsterdam marathon was to start and finish. The Amsterdam Zuid train station ideally sits in an ideal spot for me, since it’s the go between central Amsterdam and all parts in between Amsterdam Centraal Station and Hoofddorp, where I was staying. This train station is somewhat larger than the Hoofddorp train station, as it services more trains than that of its other regional brothers and sisters in the neighboring towns. The experience here at the Amsterdam Zuid train station was touch and go. More go than anything. It was a way to get into Amsterdam without having to walk a whole bit from Amsterdam centraal station. The Amsterdam Zuid train station is location at the Zuidplein 10, in the Zuid district of Amsterdam. The World Trade Center and the Crown Center hotel is nearby. Many people park their bicycles nearby, which is a great alternative commute than driving. Trains are economically friendly as well as environmentally sensitive too. I could go on and on, but if you want to save some green, take the train sometime and find out how smooth it can be! How nice that I found a Starbucks at the main entrance of the Zuid train station. There’s a couple of stores wedged inside of the Zuid train station complex to where food is found. Best bet would be to just buy food elsewhere and take it with you on the train. You’ll be better off. For me, the Amsterdam Zuid train station was nice. The scenery while waiting for the train was picturesque and there are benches on the platform to where you can sit after walking all day, sightseeing or otherwise. Depending on the time of year and time of day, it can get cold or windy, so best have a jacket when you need to. Most of the train departures are on time, but there are times where they aren’t, so plan accordingly and have fun on the train! The train station here at the Amsterdam Zuid seems to be relatively safe during the daylight hours, and voided of vagrants and other questionable people who hang out in dark shady places. Clean as it can be, but you never know with train stations nowadays. It’s your source of transportation, so do it cheaply and be nice to Mother Nature while doing so. My experience here was good and definitely will be doing the public transit system again, if my travels do come to Amsterdam again! Support local! B

Good public transport options here, tram, train, etc. Perfect if needing to get to RAI Convention Center as it is one train stop from here(and excellent Crowne Plaza Hotel is nearby!). Lots of shops(grocery/snacks.even clothing/gifts!) and food options(both higher end Italian Bistro/Bar and low end fast food options).
