I was a little too enthousiastic when I wrote the review. Shortly after we visited again and this time I was disappointed by the waiter who served us first, maybe he’s even the owner, I don’t know. His friendliness was fake and made him appear snobbish. The food was still very good but they served it too quickly. We had only finished the starter when shortly after we already got the main course. What I also forgot to mention: it can get very noisy if you sit inside, from the chitchat of the guests. Especially if your table neighbours talk to the ones on the other side, over an empty table.

Our meal was terrible. We only ended up here because everything else was closed. The shrimp served as our appetizer were not fresh, meaty or enjoyable. Salted overcooked shrimp. The wild boar with pappardelle was a minuscule portion and the boar tasted awful. The sauce was non existent and flavorless and the papardelle were short little hunks of pasta. The ravioli in sage and brown butter with lemon was… bland ravioli with melted butter and some dry sage sprinkled on top. Just about anyone can make a simple brown butter sage sauce. Its beyond simple. This place couldn’t even be bothered to a) BROWNTHEBUTTER and b) ADDFRESHSAGE. Lazy. No lemon to be found in the sauce either. What’s worse is everything was quite expensive. I left here extremely regretful for not having just gone to a kebab shop. Would have saved me a nice 70 euro. The server was aloof in a nearly empty restaurant and not helpful. Avoid. Nothing here looks even remotely worth the prices.

We stopped in here for a quick bite before we continued our tour. They very easily accommodated our table of 5 + 1. It took us a little bit to order as I had to interpret the menus for my group. The food came out rather quickly. I had the carbonara. It was good though a little salty. The pasta was served in these large plates with a deep center making it appear like there wasn’t much pasta on this large plate. It was deceptive. The pizza looked good. I’m not sure if we were supposed to get bread. with our meal. We really didn’t notice until after we’d almost finished. The service was good and it wasn’t all that expensive. They’re also dog friendly.

Excellent food and great location on a smaller street in Jordan section. Homemade pasta each day.

We initially sat down to eat here and were planning to. My son reviewed the menu and decided not to stay. I would have stayed because in walking by the tables on previous nights the food looked and smelled awesome. I wished we had. Maybe next time. Hope there were not any really hard feelings.

We were looking for italian — close by — for a late night dinner. this was recommended by the people at the canal house hotel where we were staying. The food was great. The people were very nice and accommodating. We would come back in a heartbeat.

Assaggi is a pretty good Italian place to go to for dinner. I must say though, this restaurant is in the middle of nowhere. Pastas are pretty good. They were accommodating to large groups without reservations.

Don’t come here if you are in a hurry. It’s a nice atmosphere for a conversation. Not too noisy, good lighting. Free bread and tapenade. The ravioli was delicious, but a very small portion, especially for 12 €. I would have eaten twice as much. When the manager realized I didn’t have silverware, he was very apologetic and insisted that I accept a tiramisu on the house. It was superb. House wine is pretty good, at 4 €. Beer selection is only Heineken or Peroni. They have free WiFi with a password.

One of the best Italian restaurants in Amsterdam, in one of the cosiest streets in the Jordaan area. Where the other Italians in this street choose a more café style decoration, Assagi is a bit more luxurious. It has a nice interior both suitable for a romantic night out or a dinner with some friends. Good chairs, real table linnen, etc. And then the food. Fantastic! Try the mixed starter and you will see some amazing dishes come by(about 9 euro a person). The primis(pastas) are all fresh and home made there are about 6 pastas on the menu plus an always changing pasta of the day, and they are all to die for.(about 12 euro) As a Secondi(main) you can choose between about 5 meat dishes and 5 fish dishes and again, they are all amazing. With it come potatoes and some vegetables. The housewines are very good and offer a great value for money(about 17 euro a bottle) but they also have an extensive winemenu for you to choose from. Deserts are again very, very good. We’ve had dinner here about 10 times and everytime it was fantastic and very consistent. This prooves to me that the chef has a firm hand in the kitchen. Service is not uptight, but very friendly, correct and relaxed. Tip: Ofcourse you want to try as much as possible! What we always do is: Take the mixed starter, even one for two persons is OK! Then share a nice pasta. Then both have a maincourse! Or another pasta plus one meat /fish dish if you loved the pasta. If you still have some room left, choose a nice desert. Or again, share it. finish with a nice espresso.(or like some people do, have a cappuccino and let the Italians think: goodmorning! With 2 persons expect to spend about 115 euro including a bottle of wine.
