How lucky am I to have this little Turkish restaurant so near to my house? Sooooo lucky! Because… there really aren’t that many restaurants in this neighborhood and the others are really just snackshops, so we need SOMETHING. But also because it’s Turkish and serves genuine Turkish dishes — not just shoarma or «Turkish pizza» — which is a nice break from the typical Dutch set of restaurants. Also because the food is actually really, really tasty — from lamb dishes to salads to chicken stews, etc. — it’s all really good. Aaaand because the prices are great! Aaaand because it’s kind of a neighborhood place that no one from the outside finds, so it’s small and friendly and cozy and the owners/servers are super nice — neighborly even! So, if you happen to stumble into the south side of Haarlem and need a warm Turkish dinner(anyone? anyone??), this is it. But do understand, I’m a fan because this is a great neighborhood restaurant, not because it’s gourmet food. Good, not gourmet. Perfectly satisfying, not for princesses. You have been told. Tip #1: There’s always something on the menu that is NOT available that night, so be prepared/ask. Tip #2: HAVETHETEA, WITHSUGAR — it’s delicious!
