Absolutely excellent! Meneer Smakers is exactly what you are looking for in a burger restaurant. The beef tastes great, and they’ll cook to your specifications if you ask. The toppings are fresh, tasty and compliment the burger very well. The bun is also quite delectable but doesn’t fight the burger as many «fancy» buns tend to do. The fries are also top notch, thick, crispy and full of flavor.
They have many sauces to choose from including things like BBQ sauce and vinegar as well. The staff is very friendly, and they’ll actually give you tap water without a fuss. $ 10 for a solid burger and fries that could potentially feed 2 people is a very fair deal. I eat here at least once a month and will continue to do so.

Good size and quality burger and fries in Utrecht for the price!
Solid burger with lots of veg. The meat was seasoned a bit more than what you would fine in the states, a bit more of a curry rather than just salt and pepper. I got one that had roasted eggplant on it and I thought it really complemented the meat.
The fries were a homey golden brown with a good mix of very crunchy and softer ones.
Not «American» but a good burger!

I thought my burger here was very good value, but not great tasting. I got the no-toppings burger with house sauce, a fried egg, and bacon. The first few bites were quite good but then it seemed to be pretty bland for the rest of the serving. It was a very large burger that was sort of challenging to eat, as well. They give you a good portion of fries if you order them on the side.
I thought the meat was good quality but somehow the whole assemblage lacked volume; I prefer Pickles to this place for taste, but they are quite a bit pricier.

As a vegetarian it is difficult to find good vege burgers in utrecht. This place is provides you one of the best burgers in utrecht. It gives you a burger that will satisfy your appetite and the taste will make you visit this place again.

Great burgers! Beef, Lamb and Veggie!
The fries were excellent and do where the Coke and Heineken! Highly recommend for a simple meal after walking up the Dom Tower.

I’ve been on a quest to find a decent burger joint in Holland. The burgers here are very tasty and service was excellent as well. They grind their own meat, which is an added plus! The dressings and extras really tie the burger choices together. Definitely recommend this place!

Nice place and the burger was well prepared. Cost was a bit high given the portions. However I am american (though not one of the giant ones) so it could just be me reacting to the fact that portions are generally smaller in the Netherlands.
Nothing special but nice this place was indeed worth a visit i’d say.

So happy to have found this cute little burger joint!
I had a cheese burger… it was soooo good & juicy! The bun they use is a non traditional bun but complemented the burger nicely. They also serve ORGANIC Beer!!! Bob the manager was super nice and was so kind to write down awesome places to check out in the city! Definitely will be back when we return to Utrecht!

Love. Just love for Meneer Smakers. As a vegetarian I obviously had the Goat Cheese burger and as Oprah would say, I had an «Aha moment». I took one bite of the burger and was immediately faced with the thought: «Why did I never think of this??». I love that Meneer Smakers has gone completely outside of the box when creating their veggie burger, so a tip of the hat to you!
Another huge plus for me: deep golden, crispy chips. I am always a happy girl when I have chips that crunch and crisp in my mouth, so I was a lucky ducky here too!
Meneer Smakers has a simple but delicious menu and I will definitely be back for more!

This is the best burger we’ve had so far in Holland. It was better than the Burgerz burgers we’ve had. The meat and buns were good quality and had a good flavor. They do offer some good options like a salmon burger if you aren’t in the mood for beef. The staff was also very friendly. We’ll return when in Utrecht.

I was excited to go to a new burger place in Utrecht — glad the the burger craze is coming to the Netherlands.
Meneer Smakers is cool — I like the design and envy the simple menu. The prices are resonable too. So… how’s the food?
The Smakers burger — I was suprised to see cucumber and roasted eggplant on the burger — non tradiitonal burger toppings. Just take them off when you get your burger and eat them as sides. The burger consistency is more meat-loaf than it should be. Sauce was okay — nothing special.
Fries — they seemed darker than usual. delicious and they nailed it.
EDIT: went several times, not blown away, moving down to 3 stars.
