The Rock

Wiens schwarze Szene ist sehr überschaubar, was mich immer schon überrascht hat, da sie in Deutschland eine durchaus respektable Größe hat und Wien von der Grundstimmung her eigentlich die perfekte Gruftistadt wäre. Ich weiß nicht, wie viele Rocklokale in Wien schon dicht gemacht haben, zuletzt ja leider auch das Pi im 7. Bezirk. Das Rock gibts jetzt seit ein paar Jahren und bietet den Liebhabern der Farbe Schwarz alles was man braucht: Finster, Kellergewölbe, Bier, diverse mittelalterliche Getränke/​Shots, zivilisierte Preise und natürlich laute Musik. Das einzige Problem vom Rock ist, dass sich der Publikumszuspruch in überschaubaren Grenzen hält. Ich schaue alle heiligen Zeiten mal wieder vorbei und finde es ganz nett, auch wenns immer so wirkt als wäre die Party schon gelaufen.

Were told that this is a roughish ROCK BAR so I had an idea of what to expect firmly implanted in my mind. But it couldn’t have tamer if they had pussy cats on the tables. I’ve been into rougher Glam bars than this.
But anyway the place was ok,. Bar service was slow, I guess cause I wasn’t sporting arm tattoos or breasts but hey thats expected. Prices were on the high end. Music was a bit «rockish» but not quite rocky enough for me.
The wiriest part though was that downstairs (and belonging to The Rock) is what could only be described as a trace/​trip/​rave club. Very odd indeed.
At closing time the light were turned up bright and we were slowly ushered out.
Overall a rather strange experience to be honest. More of a wanna-​be rock bar than anything else but if you’re in the mood for a 90’s rave I know a place…
