Fantastic hassle-free joint visited mainly by locals(we were the only tourists there) where you get to choose from 2 sets of dishes that are prepared fresh daily. The food was rich in flavour and yet not as oily as most other Austrian/German restaurants. I only went once on my holiday but you can tell they are consistent as most of the locals there are regulars. Must visit if you’re in the area!

Americans, first stop in town and it is a must for the real food of Vienna. Sides are large and great as are the beers. Staff is very friendly and speaks English with English menu but this is the real Vienna and not a tourist trap. Go as a couple and split the plates, portions are huge. Total bill with drinks very affordable. Nice area of town, very safe. Small local market next door, pickup something for the morning. Highly recommend for Americans staying in the area.

Let me start by saying that this is the first indoor non-smoking restaurant I have found. The food and beer were great. I had the goulash and my wife had a vegetarian meal which she enjoyed. I would recommend this place.

We stopped here on our first night in Vienna. After perusing the Unilocal reviews, we thought Valenta’s was worth a try. We were not at all disappointed! Plentiful servings, engaging service by the owner, and delicious food made it a meal to enjoy and remember. We tried schnitzel, goulash, and dumplings, and each dish was cooked just right. It made for a truly relaxing night out, and a great introduction to Austria!

I second what the other English-speaking tourists have said — this is a great Austrian food spot, especially if you’re staying in the Renaissance Wien hotel. The prices are good, and portions of schnitzel are massive. There’s an English menu, which we had to ask for. Vienna supposedly has a reputation for surly and distant waiters, but I didn’t encounter that at all here. This feels like a much homier, casual, friendly place. The food is good — nothing that too exceptional, but really solid, tasty, well prepared typical dishes. WARNING: when I went in July, they were closed on weekends and only open during the week(for lunch and dinner.)

Great food, great service. Nice outdoor seating. Beef goulash appetizer and wiener schnitzel with roasted potatoes were both excellent. Very large portions made it difficult to finish. Across from Renaissance hotel. Accommodating for English-speaking guests.

Extra Raucherraum.
