Plac Nowy 1

Wohl eines der angesagtesten Restaurants in Krakau. Tatsächlich trifft sich hier überwiegend junges Publikum in hübschen Kleidern. Ausgestattet mit einer großen Bar, hellen Möbeln und großen Fenstern erinnert es mich ein wenig an eine bekannte italienische Kette, dessen Namen mit «Va» beginnt und mir «piano» endet. Die Karte ist ebenfalls diesem Vorgänger angepasst: denn neben Burgern gibt es eine große Auswahl an Nudeln, Salaten und Pizzen. Dem Bier wurde eine ganze Seite in der Karte gewidmet. Das Lager war in Ordnung, hat mich allerdings nicht umgehauen und wird nicht zu meinem neuen Lieblingsbier.

Very nice restaurant and bar in old Jewish district. Great selection of food will make your decision harder. Amazing hamburgers or maybe ribs but than there is real Italian style pizza, very thin and crusty. Great selection of beer and drinks in general. Always welcoming and professional staff will make sure your needs are met. I love coming here either for just cup of coffee in summer, lunch, dinner snacks with beer or when some events are organized. Plac Novy 1 never lets me down. Check it out.

Nice place and nice service. Bit greasy pizza for American taste (American pizza floats in grease and this was more greasy than American). Nice pan cakes and sauerkraut. Very tasty olive spread

Great place to have dinner before going out in Kazimierz! You can eat while enjoying an amazing view of the quarter! good food, good wine and excellent service

Gutes Restaurant mit lokalen Bieren im Szeneviertel in Krakau.
Hier ist man als Tourist eher die Ausnahme. Wir haben uns an dem Abend ins Krakauer Szeneviertel gewagt, um Abends essen zu gehen. Hier gibt es eine riesen Auswahl an Ausgehmöglichkeiten. Wir haben uns für das Plac Nowy 1 entschieden, weil sie viele lokale Biere aus Microbrauereien anbieten.
Mit dem Biertester kommen dann gleich 4 Bierkrüge mit sehr unterschiedlichem Bier auf den Tisch. Das Essen ist gut gemacht, nicht heraussagend, aber lecker und preislich in Ordnung. Das Restaurant ist nett gestaltet und auf Nachfrage gibt es auch eine englische Karte und die Kellner können dies ebenfalls sprechen.
Die Küche ist polnisch-​italienisch, die Auswahl ist nicht riesig aber völlig ausreichend. Aber wir waren ja hauptsächlich wegen dem Bier dort und das war gut und sehr interessant zu vergleichen.

The bowling alley in the basement of Plac Nowy 1 has six lanes. The equipment is quite modern. The lanes employ free-​fall pinsetters instead of the cheaper string pinsetters. When the bowl strikes the pins they fly about more freely and make a nice satisfying sound. Me and my friends had been bowling at Prominent before. Everyone agreed that the experience at Plac Nowy is much better. The lane fees here are relatively high though. On the weekend it cost 95 zł an hour in the evening. Kinda an expensive form of entertainment unless you’re with a group.

Booked a table for two on a Saturday evening. When I got in I said «I have a reservation for two», and got as answer: «A table for two? Hmmm. Do you have a reservation?».
After being seated close to the bar we order our food and two glasses of red wine. We got two glasses of white wine, which we had sent back (without problem). The red wine that we got was cold though.
We ordered sous-​vide duckbreast, which came with potatoes, apples, a small salad, and a nice sauce. The duckbreast was good, but the potatoes somewhat tasteless and dry, and the fried apple could have used some spices (cinnamon, honey, lemon, etc.). The salad (a ‘spaghetti’ of various vegetables) was warm unfortunately, perhaps because it had been on the hot duckbreast too long or had been waiting under a light.
The desserts were absolutely perfect and recommendable though. One was the plum crumble with a tasty basil ice cream and the other a chocolate fondant with a sauce of celery and white chocolate (surprisingly good!), lemon ice cream and compote of red fruits. One of the best desserts I had in Krakow.
Will we be back? Potentially. The place was decorated very nicely and modern (read: minimalistic and industrial) but as a result somewhat noisy. The food was nice but the bill suggested slightly better quality.

From what I was told, this is a new place in Kazimierz and since I was visiting Kraków, I figured I’d give it a shot. Excellent modern interior with bricks scaling random walls, different plants on each table, small trees in pots, and other random fixtures scattered throughout the place. My date and I thoroughly enjoyed our pints (which came with some type of flavored honey that you pour in the drink) as we conversed throughout the evening. I did not get to try to food but from what I saw on everyone’s tables it sure looked tasty, but I was saving myself for the legendary zapekanka right outside the building! But that being said, I love the overall vibe of this place and hope one day to return to Kraków to come here again!

The sous vide cod was exceptionally good! I would avoid the pstrang (trout) as it was a lot of work to sift out all the tiny bones.
