Quand j’étais gamine, j’étais vachement impressionnée par un de mes livres, dans lequel ils montraient des Esquimaux qui coupaient de gros morceaux de gras de baleine avant de mordre dedans.
Ils ont perdu tout leur prestige, parce que j’ai fait pareil ici avec du gras de porc.
Andrus, donc, c’est un food truck installé sur une espèce de terrain vague, et entouré de plein de copains food trucks. Lui, il fait des burgers. J’ai pris le Boczek [botchèque], avec viande de porc ”à la polonaise” (j’aurais dû me méfier), bacon, cornichon, oignons et sauce à la moutarde. 14 PLN, une dizaine de minutes d’attente, et tu récupères ton déjeuner.
Qui luit de graisse à t’en éblouir, qui suinte, tu sais dès le début que tu peux assurer l’apport calorique journalier d’un travailleur de force en période de gel avec une seule bouchée.
Dedans ce n’est pas un steak, mais une espèce de rôti de porc hyper fondant, confit dans la graisse fondue, et avec de gros morceaux de gras collés. (On s’en sort pas) J’ai essayé d’enlever le plus gros avec les doigts, pas facile.
Et le problème, c’est que c’est vachement bon! Le pain est croustillant dehors parce qu’ils le passent sous le grill, et imbibé de graisse de porc dedans, et t’arrives pas à arrêter de manger (javais super faim, aussi).
Le problème n°2, c’est qu’ils n’ont pas de serviettes, tu t’en fous partout, les Esquimaux auraient honte.
J’aurais bien aimé avoir plus de vraie viande à manger, quand même, et né pas bousiller mes artères en un seul repas, mais si tu as besoin de confort food pour te remettre d’une dure journée, c’est ici!

I’ve heard many times about how great is «Maczanka» offered by Andrus.
Andrus is a food track that offers a few different types of it (each one with different ingradients).
What is «Maczanka»? Something similar to hamburger, just instead of classic hamburger meat there is a big amount of small pork meat pieces and lard inside.
I chose a classic version of it. The first impression was ok — warm, with nice mixture of souce and vegetables inside. Something good for a late evening after returning from a party. Unfortunately after e few minutes I changed my mind. This is a really, I mean really, fat type of food. The smell of pork stays on the hands and in the mouth for a long time. If you like fat things — check it out. If you’re a healthy type of person that cares about cholesterol etc., I disrecommend it or just share it with another person, because eating whole one «Maczanka» for me was impossible ;)

I’ve had dinner here. Great fast food truck. Comes with lots of pulled pork neck with a host of options such as cheese, bacon and Jalapeños. It can be incredibly oily. It definitely doesn’t feel like a healthy burger but it tastes really good.

Andrus is the latest addition to Kraków’s burgeoning food truck scene. Its specialty is the «maczanka», which is basically a pork sandwich. I ordered the maczanka ostra (meaning spicy). As you can see in the photo, it comes stuffed full of jalapenos. It also contains a copious amount of sauce, which thankfully was largely absorbed by the roll so eating it wasn’t terribly messy. The pork is very nicely done. I thoroughly enjoyed the sandwich and look forward to trying the other variations on the menu.
Andrus is a food truck, so in theory it could move around. I think Skwer Judah is basically its home base though. There you’ll find several other vendors: one stand serves Belgian fries; another serves milkshakes; a food truck does burgers; another one server kebab; there’s even a guy grilling oscypek (goat cheese). The variety makes it a great destination for a late night snack.
