Coffee Cargo is a «trendy» coffeehouse in a former warehouse. I put trendy in quotes because I’m not sure if West Coast circa 1995 can be properly described as trendy. For better or for worse, the place managed to perfectly capture the South-of-Market vibe. Sitting there I was reminded of the days when I was working at a dotcom whose stocks went from $ 100 to $ 0.05. While I’m not at all impressed by the post-industrial décor, I have to say that Coffee Cargo is pretty well arranged. It’s slightly too busy for my taste, but whoever designed the interior has a great sense of space. Each table offers a unique feel, a unique perspective. The couch and comfy chairs on the mezzanine are great when you need to work on a laptop. Meanwhile, the tables on the other side are good places for one-on-one conversation. Coffee Cargo is quite distanced from the city center. It’s just a stone’s throw from the Schindler factory and the Krakow Museum of Modern Art though. If you happen to be visiting one of the two, it’s a good spot to take a break at.

An interesting place. Is it a warehouse, is it the inside of a ship? Who knows, but if you are a coffee connoisseur then this place is for you. Personally I’m not much of a coffee drinker, but apparently they roast and grind coffee here. Also available are various desserts, the tiramisu in particular looks fantastic. The interior is very nice, with a raised mezzanine area(or deck perhaps). I can’t see this place being particularly warm in winter though :(Time will tell.
