Spaghetteria 24

Can bargain basement Italian food being any good? After seeing numerous positive reviews about Spaghetteria 24, I decided to check it out myself. The top dish here, according to other Unilocalers, is Carbonara, so that’s what I ordered. The pasta came in a black plastic bowl. It was lathered in a thick cream sauce, with chunks of bacon and copious amount of cheese on top. Closer in spirit with American comfort food than Italian cuisine, I would say. Unsophisticated, but yummy. It’s good food for 7.5 zł.
I also got the minestrone. It was nowhere near what a minestrone ought to be – just a thin chicken and vegetable broth. It was a very solid broth though. I actually would have preferred this thin soup over the real thing given how the heavy the pasta was. Costing just an additional 4.5 zł, it was literally cheaper than barszcz.
Spaghetteria 24 apparently gets a lot of takeout orders around lunch hour. I was interrupted twice by phone calls in the middle of ordering my meal. It took a while too before my food arrived. The downside of going to a popular place, I guess.

This spaghetteria is a gem. The lasagne here is incredible, and I speak as a man with a lot of lasagne experience ;) There is seating for a dozen or so people inside, or you can take away. If you eat in you will have to eat from a plastic bowl using plastic cutlery, but it’s worth it. The food is quite cheap too.
