Don’t go! Trap for tourists. Eat cheap but god it’s disgusting… I really don’t understand how it gets so many good ratings! Have fun if you decide to go anyway!

Charming, high level of service and very good food for an incredible price. My husband and I had a nice Portuguese bottle of white that our server recommend(not too dry with just a hint of fruit). We started with the traditional couvert(some bread, olives and pâté). If I were only to choose one of the pates, it would be the crawfish, the tuna was fine, but nothing special. We ordered this as we were quite hungry from our travel day. We shared the goat cheese with fig jam which was to die for. For entrees we both had risotto — he had the duck which was excellent, I had the fish which was just OK. I don’t usually order risotto, but because our server recommended it, I went for it. Mea Culpa, don’t order things you know you don’t usually enjoy! In fact, it’s the only reason I didn’t give this lovely establishment 5 stars. I would go back here in a heartbeat and try other dishes. The service, music, décor and ambiance were all as wonderful as the food.

Go here! Eat here! Come again! Visit Lisbon for an excuse to come here again. The starters: The goats cheese in filo pastry is a revelation. Have you ever seen, or for that matter smelt a goat. Who would have thought something his amazing could have come out of somewhere so close to the wrong end of a goat. Eat this! The prawns in a spicy garlic sauce are a revelation. Eat them, in years to come they may be on your death row menu. If you go there with a friend, especially one that doesn’t eat prawns, order a portion for them too and eat them yourself. Order the delicious Parmesan and croûton salad to go with the über prawns and the good enough for Jesus goats cheese. The main course: I have only been here once and although I wanted to, could not order and eat everything on the menu. The turbot is delicious, the seafood risotto is fabulous. The lasagne and pig cheeks that the people on the table next to us were eating looked so good I wanted to order them after dessert. The dessert I had was the NY cheesecake. It’s really quite perfect. We washed this down with a bottle of Pedra Cancela, light and dry with a fruit notes at the end and a steal at about 10 € for a bottle. Come here, come here again, tell only your closest friends so it doesn’t get too packed out. I love it. PS This is the first time I’ve completed s review of a restaurant while eating dessert there. I love it so much I have to Unilocal it.

I had dinner here yesterday evening(03−29−16) and I had a wonderful experience. Quermesse is situated on a downward-sloping hill a few blocks away from the Avenida da Liberdade, and truly is a hidden gem within the city. I entered the restaurant in a party of three around 10pm and was promptly seated by the waiter, and given a menu(made of cork! So neat). The ambiance was incredible — the other guests seemed to be in the 30 – 50 year old range, but were all extremely hip, dressed in beautiful, chic monochromatic articles of clothing with perfect cuts. Most people seemed to be drinking wine, and though many people were already finished eating their meals by the time I arrived, they seemed to linger in the restaurant(because it was so NICE!!). The inside has an extremely elegant décor as well, primarily consisting of black and white, with a back wall made up of door-like fixtures. It was very neat. Also the small plates that we were given for sharing appetizers were all different, and they were all soo beautiful, each in their own unique way. Anyhow, after perusing through the menu(the menu had both English and Portuguese, which was extremely helpful) and browsing through some images on Unilocal,we decided to order the seafood soup, the goat cheese + fig jam salad, crusted cod dish, pulpo(octopus) dish, shrimp + crawfish risotto, and later on, the cheesecake. I’ll review the food in one moment, but first — service! I loved our waiter — I found him to be extremely kind and charming. He was really patient with me(even though I ordered the cod way after he already placed our order for everything else) and he chuckled when I tried to practice my very limited Portuguese(which essentially consists of «obrigado», haha). He was very honest about his dessert recommendations, and highly suggested we order the cheesecake. He talked to us about the chef, and the restaurant’s original chef, and I found that he made the experience extremely personable. However, my parents definitely thought he was conceited based on his first impression upon them. Nonetheless, they quickly warmed up to him as well, and ultimately, we collectively found him worthy of a nice tip. Back to the food — it was SOGOOD! I’ll probably be back before I leave Lisbon because WOW. Meticulously crafted and eloquently presented, none of the dishes we ordered failed any of us(and I was with a pretty picky crowd!). My personal favorite was the Shrimp + Crawfish Risotto, but I’m just a major seafood and risotto lover, so that might have been it. The crusted cod was so flavorful, and it was presented so beautifully, but I’m not a major fan of potatoes, so that’s why it wasn’t my #1 favorite(my parents LOVED the potatoes though — I’ve just never been a fan!). The seafood soup was also fantastic, and the goat cheese/fig jam appetizer was perfect to share with three others. For the price, we were given soo much food, especially considering the value of some of the items(goat cheese/seafood is not cheap!). The cheesecake with its homemade berry sauce was a perfect way to end my evening, leaving my palette with an inextinguishable desire to consume more(just not at the moment, because I was pleasantly stuffed). I can confidently assert that I had a fine dining experience at Quermesse, and I am confident that I will pay the local gem another visit before I leave the area.

Thanks again to all you Unilocalers! Small, many locals, great food(generous portions!)… But our waiter(David) was the best. From recommending wine with food to just good & friendly conversation, he ultimately helped with an authentic Fado recommendation(read: dive bar vs sterile venue).

This place is an absolute gem! The food was spectacular! Traditional Portuguese food with a modern twist at a great price and the portions are enormous! My boyfriend and I had the fried shrimp to start to share. It was small but a delicious starter and some bread to sop up the delicious spicy sauce. Then I had the baked octopus for main and he had the seafood risotto. Both portions were amazing and huge! We could of even got away with ordering one main and another starter to share. Total bill for more than we could eat plus delicious wine and beer was under € 40 for both of us. Oh and the staff are lovely which made the experience even better.

We stayed at a hotel down the road from the restaurant. It was a deserted road, parallel to the main road. We enjoyed that hotel because of the location and it was quiet. The restaurant was not as you’d expect. From the outside, it looked dark and unreliable. It was well-lit inside and the dining hall was small. It looked clean. Food was fantastic and there was no-fuss. You asked for things, things show up without ado. Prices were acceptable. We enjoyed the food very much. Lots of locals there, showed that it’s also a local haunt.

A hidden gem in Lisbon! After doing some research, I found this restaurant through Unilocal and trip advisor. Based on those recommendations, we made reservations at 7 and showed up there a few mins after 7. They seated us immediately and gave a menu that had prices and information in Portuguese and English. Prices were surprisingly affordable. We shared the goat cheese and fig jam appetizer and it was just delicious. It was a bit filling too so I would recommend it even for a three way split. We then had the cod and turbot as our entrée. Cod dish had a good amount of olive oil poured around it and had I known that, I would have asked them to hold it or only pour a bit. It filled me up way too quickly and my guess its the oil. The food was great but I really do wish that they could have gone a bit more light with that oil.(Now I really have to burn those calories!!!) Finally, we ordered their chocolate cake to share. It came with vanilla ice cream and mint sauce and it was delicious. The service throughout was friendly and attentive. Food was wonderful and the value was exceptional. I wish I had discovered this place earlier — a wonderful little restaurant. The final total with two entrees, an appetizer, dessert and coffee came to be a bit less than 35 euros. A great deal, indeed!

Very refreshing to be at a restaurant with fair prices, friendly service, and above all else tremendous food. Perfect farfalle, pork cheeks, and a lemony risotto. And a lovely presentation on a tasty blackberry cheesecake. A fantastic place in a sea of lame touristy places with no character.

I’m in Lisbon for a week. I’ve eaten there twice. It’s reasonably priced without all the games they play in most restaurants. If you want to feel like you’re not in a tourist trap and have an excellent meal … Come to this place.

Wonderful experience. The food was perfectly prepared. We had the octopus, the Turbot and the cod. Classical unpretentious recipes. Wine prices were most reasonable. Service was efficient and discreet. Great value compared to most touristy places.

This is one of 3 really excellent restaurants we have been at in Lisbon. The roasted peppers and pork cheeks with lemon risotto were truly delicious. Our first really excellent salad in Lisbon. Just looking in the window you know you have come to a restaurant where they are serious about the food. I’ll post a photo of it. The chocolate dessert was excellent. A shrimp dish was fine but less interesting. Our other meals of about the same quality were Cantinho do Avillez and 1300 Taberna. Probably our best dishes were the pork cheeks here and the black pork at Cantinho do Avillez. On our last night in Lisbon we returned to this restaurant for their wonderful salad of melon, Iberian ham, goat cheese, tomato and lettuce and the wondrous pork cheeks. For our last meal, this was the experience we wanted most. I use 5 stars only for the Michelin star level restaurants so 4 stars is a very appreciative review for me.

Experimentem…
