Tourist trap. High prices with low quality food and service. Bacalhau was heavily oversalted. Least friendly server we encountered in Portugal and only one to ask for a tip. There are better options in Sintra.

Nice ambiance, great position, good selection of local pastries and really good coffee, I was expecting it to be more expensive and although not cheap it wasn’t crippling as some of the guidebooks suggested. The main meals looked pricey and I’d steer clear of the filled rolls which looked very poor but for coffee and cake it was just right. What was a let down and surprisingly so was the service. We were seated quickly but had to ask for a menu, there were several staff on but only one seemed to be doing anything and she wasn’t happy about it, pushing past dawdling tourists with a «Beep beep» in a non — comical way. Tourists dawdle, waiters wait — not here! When it came to getting the bill we tried several times but the coffee had made us invisible. I was tempted to leave but dutifully went to the register and asked the manager if I could pay. He reluctantly printed my bill, put it on a plate and promptly turned his back on me. I paid and left, not a «thank you» or «goodbye» from the staff. Have to say that if that was the experience when they were not busy I hate to think what it’s like when a tour bus empties on them.

Outstanding meal! Café Paris looks like a tourist trap, and it’s certainly not the cheapest place to eat in Sintra, but our food was outstanding, the service was terrific, and the setting is beautiful. I would definitely come back here. My grouper with caper butter was the most perfectly-prepared piece of fish I’ve had in Portugal. The charcuterie were terrific. The baguettes would even pass muster in Paris.

Good food and nice outdoor areas — choose between the street side outdoor area or the Terrance on the second floor in the back. The Terrance is lovely on a sunny day with views of the castle and Sintra. Staff is very nice and their menu covers most appetites. Interesting elevator jazz music but it puts you in the vacation/relaxation mode.

Excellent ambiance, not a cheap to eat or drink but very good. It’s an upscale place located in the heart of Sintra. Good for people watching w/good food. The Sangria is awesome as is the lunch & dinner menu selections. On a nice day be sure to sit at one of the many outdoor seats.
