Staying at the hotel decided to do a breakfast here! 90 $ for two for a buffet where I felt was short and not elaborate! Service is fair, weekends and travel vacation times made me feel like I’m prolly eating at a canteen/mess with way too much noise around. Food was average and nothing exquisite !

I’m keeping a pretty strict healthy diet and I don’t usually like eggs but honestly I had the best omelette I have ever had in my life at the breakfast buffet. The guy was hilarious too! He called my omelette an omelette pizza. It was egg whites with every kind of vegetables they had and every kind of cheese. He laughed when I ordered it. The fruits were all fresh and sweet. 100% worth every penny!

Breakfast buffet was delicious and I love the coffee and options. I just think it’s very overpriced for what you get especially if you don’t drink alcohol with brunch. Maybe you should have different options; one for food only and one for both food and drinks Ps: the coffee bar is great!

I was kind of disappointed in the breakfast menu I could get the same food at any hotel in the mainland US. I’m in Puerto Rico I would’ve liked to have had an offering of some Puerto Rican style breakfast food. Not to mention the orange juice tasted like it came out of a can not even anywhere near being fresh squeezed like the breakfast place next-door to the hotel.

Lee had a late breakfast here at Mares on a flight layover. It was great– shaded and over looking the pool area. I got the lobster eggs Benedict entrée which was amazing! My husband got one of the breakfast sandwich specials w egg sausage and chili sauce. All was delicious and service was great too.

The food is delicious and of excellent quality. Great views and an enjoyable atmosphere. Last but not least, the waitstaff service was all smiles, friendly, observant, and commendably accommodating of me and my little one. Looking forward to breakfast tomorrow morning during my stay!

As a breakfast person this breakfast buffet didn’t disappoint. It’s definitely pricey so don’t come unless you plan on really eating. Pancakes, waffles, breads, bagels, smoked salmon and omelette station were all excellent. The full buffet also comes with bottomless mimosas as well. Enjoy.

Not a bad little breakfast buffet — I loved the eggs and the corn meal mush! They even include the 30 or so drinks they have on their café menu during regular hours. Their coffee bar is awesome. just awesome. So many choices, all delicious. We had lunch here one day and that was surprisingly really good. The service is fantastic.

A bit Disappointed by the ritz carlton brunch! Other Ritz locations boast more appetizing fare but it’s pretty basic. There is also a lack of competition nearby so I guess they can get away with it. As a hotel in a tropical location, I would expect a beautiful fruit selection but melon, pineapple and rotting strawberries missed the mark. They do serve fresh squeezed juice and have a nice omelet station.

I didn’t expect much from Mares, being the casual breakfast and lunch dining spot for the hotel, however their menu looked inviting and we didn’t feel like venturing out. My wife and I decided to try it for lunch. The server was very nice, but left my wife waiting almost 10 minutes for the glass of wine she ordered. More annoying were the small-ish portions. Basically, we could have eaten at the beach bar and received more food at a comparable price(less than 100 feet away). This was disappointing. Overall, ok experience, very friendly service, and average food for the money.

I really enjoyed our meals here at Mares. Some days, we had breakfast outside on the patio. Beautiful view! Some days, we had lunch inside. My favorite breakfast fare was their low-fat fruit flavored yogurt. The omelets were a hit with the BF, as were the crispy potatoes. My favorite lunch here was their turkey bacon club sandwich with a side salad. Lots of meat, perfectly toasted bread. Most of all, we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and friendly service.

The breakfast buffet at Mares is pretty amazing — ours was included with our room, so I’m not sure if I would pay $ 31 for it, but it was pretty good. The omelet guy is incredibly friendly and makes a darn good omelet. He’d also make regular fried eggs, but the omelet ingredients include goat cheese(or pepperjack on some days, and regular boring cheddar cheese), peppers, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, ham, etc. The bacon on the side is also top-notch — I couldn’t get enough of it. They also had scrambled eggs, sausage, fried potatoes with peppers and onions, and a different pancake/french toast/etc. option everyday. There are fresh local juices, like guava or plaintain, and fresh fruits everyday. The cantaloupe and melon was always good. They also had a large cheese and cured meat section, with smoked salmon and other condiments. There’s also a ton of pastries, including some local Puerto Rican ones. They also have plenty of jams and jellies to use on the variety of breads. I chose to end all my breakfasts with chocolate croissants and some homemade CLIF-bar type granola bars(which were REALLY good!) for the road. If cereal is your thing, there are also a few cereal options(although I personally wouldn’t pay that much money for cereal). They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and you won’t leave disappointed from Mares. I didn’t try any of their specialty coffees, but they also have quite a good selection of lattes, cappuccinos, etc. We did get lunch at Mares on our first day there — we were trying to be healthy, so we got the fire-roasted grilled vegetable wrap. Although it was put together well and the vegetables seemed fresh, I’m not sure the combination of veggies(eggplant, squash, etc.) worked in a wrap form. The french fries on the other hand, were pretty good. So much for healthy I guess… The service is so-so at Mares, but go for the breakfast buffet and it won’t really matter. The food will make up for it!

The view of the beach & ocean was fabulous. Though service was nice & island-like, the prices are what you expect pricey being that it is at the Ritz Carlton. We ate here twice. Once for lunch with 2 kids meals of hot dogs & Mac & cheese & a very fresh tuna salad with pita bread, it was not bad. Yesterday, we went there for an afternoon drink & snack & ordered buffalo wings(my husband thought the flavoring was good but I thought the chicken wings were over-cooked) & nachos(weird cheese sauce — maybe canned?) with a side of salsa(bottled or can) & guacamole(canned or bottle) — maybe my expectations were high for nachos since we’re from Southern California & we eat fresh salsa & guacamole. Other than that, the view is fantastic!

We enjoyed lunch here on our last day in Isla Verde. I do have to admit the restaurant is quite«dead» at lunch, I presume only because the entire hotel has probably just enjoyed their breakfast buffet there. Due to the lack of patrons, our service was a little waning. But once we got our food, the words«that was worth the wait» came out of both of our mouths. Grouper Sliders — comes with three largely sized sliders and a side. I would be surprised if you could finish this as your meal. Maybe next time we’ll order it as an appetizer? I don’t know, but they were certainly mouth wateringly well made fish sliders! Fried Snapper with Crillo — WOW. Fried with little to no batter. The skin was so crispy I wanted to savor every bite. So good I can still taste it. Mac & Cheese — side. Still so good! The right amount of cheese to pasta ratio and even the topping was crispy and full of flavor! The bill was a TAD on the heavy side but again, when we signed it, both of us said it was worth it! The minus 1 star was only for the service.

A bit on the expensive side. But not surprising for the Ritz. Solid breakfast buffet and standard burgers, salads, sandwiches for lunch. If you happen to be in the Ritz, it’s a nice place to eat with an outdoor patio to boot. But I wouldn’t go out of my way to seek this place out.
