Very good restaurant in Old San Juan! We had the crab stuffed avocado with rice, beans and maduros. So good! All the ingredients they use are fresh. The passion fruit mojito is excellent. The services was 5 stars.

We came here because the wait for Barrachina was too long and I am so glad we did! The entrance was this cute little store and just beyond that is the bar and seating area. We were sat right away. I had a piña colada to start and followed it up with a mojito. I ordered the ceviche in the avocado. The ceviche was so fresh and tasty. The side of rice and beans was also very flavorful! The staff made us samples of a ton of different drinks to try and were super friendly. Hole in wall type place with top notch menu! Recommendation: Make friends with the bartender!

Only restaurant we ate in that had mosquitos in the dining rooms! While the avocado stuffed with vegetables was very good, the avocado with ceviche and shrimp not on menu but recommended by the waiter cost more than the lobster at $ 27. The sangria wasn’t the best but at $ 48 for a pitcher for 4 glasses was as expensive as the pina colado at the hotel beach bar. Tip was also added as food item prior to tax which was incorrect but we were unable to get that across. Be sure to ask price of anything recommended by waiter.

Vegetarian review: nice food– they have mofongos– crushed fried plantain and they serve it with vegetables and a nice side salad(go for the Chilean salad). They also serve avocado copes which are filled with veggies/meat of your choice. Plantain fries(the unsweetened ones) are a must try– their pico de gallo is the best I’ve eaten. They also have fresh juices– I had the mango– it was literally mango whizzed in a blender. Pure bliss.

We found this great place along our journey through Old San Juan. We were hot and hungry and wanted traditional PR cooking. So glad we found this place!!! In the front is all sortsof unique art items on the walls and in the back a cozy restaurant that served ice cold beer and friendly service. We sat in the air condition room. Thankfully. The servers were so sweet and chatted with us. We ordered a stuffed avocado with beef and sweet plantains w rice and beans. Mmm good. We also tried the empanada which was also perfect. A good find for us for sure! We will definitely be back! Also they have a very clean bathroom. Hey that matters.

This was a good way to end my trip in San Juan. Local cuisine at a local establishment. They have A/C seating(in a room) and indoor seating(no A/C). This place is inside a mini-mall so don’t be alarmed if you see stores selling merchandise in the front. The best part about this place is their happy hour mojitos. I had their mango mojito which was made from fresh mangoes. You can see the mangoes! I forgot their price but it was a good deal for 2 of them. — Chicken Avocado: Picture half an avocado with chicken in the middle. This dish was pretty disappointing. There wasn’t much flavor to it and something was just off about the dish. — Crab Tostones: This was very interesting. I love tostones(fried plantains). The texture of the crab paired with the crunchiness of the tostones is like salsa and chips. So good. I can eat a ton of these. — Grouper in Garlic Sauce: If you love garlic, you must get this! Seriously, must get this. The fish is cooked perfectly. You can taste the garlic. I promise you that when you leave this place, your breath with smell like garlic. Yum. — Entrees comes with side of salad, rice and beans, tostones, etc. Can’t go wrong with any. This place really gets a 3.5 stars. I would be back.

No frills place with basic but good food. I like that they offer various protein such as chicken, port, steak, shrimp, crab that you can out on top of mofongo, or rice, or avocado… etc. you can select 2 sides too. After to much fried food in PR, having something on top of fresh avocado is great! Reasonable price.

Rudest hostess. Horrible downmarket atmosphere. Mosquitoes in the air con room in the height of Zika scare speaks of worst dining experience. Yucky place. More mosquitoes there than in the rainforest. They don’t care.

The place is very delicious! When you walk in, you walk down a hallway and pass by paintings you can buy. The waiters were very friendly. I got the avocado shrimp with a side of tostones and rice with beans and a mojito! The mojitos were pretty good(if you want the best mojito go the plaza de santurce it’s a little corner spot in the plaza on the left side and they have the best mojitos in San Juan!)

This is one of my favorite casual spots to grab a quick lunch in OSJ. From the street Café El Punto looks super touristy but don’t let the appearance fool you. As you walk up the covered walkway to the café you are greeted by a receptionist and given option for indoor(w/AC) or outdoor(w/o AC) seating. We opted for outdoor. The service was spot-on and the menu had lots of great local options at reasonable prices. We ordered the stuffed avocado with chilled mixed seafood. The bar whipped up some great mojitos, which were some of the best we had in OSJ. I recommend this spot as a recluse from the tourist-centric spots in OSJ. I’ll definitely be back again!

My boyfriend and I ate here twice during our five day stay. We had crab-stuffed tostones, chicken-stuffed avocado, steak, and steak mofongo. Excellent flavors, fast and friendly service. Their piqué is also my favorite I’ve had. Their mojitos were great as well!

We were walking around in old San Juan and checking out the fort and local charm when we pulled out Unilocal to find some dinner. Everyone gave this place good reviews but we were concerned because the pictures made it look kinda lame. We ended up going here because the food pictures looked amazing and sure enough they were right. The avocados are HUGE and the plantains are delicious. Try the seafood medley in a plantain cup, it is fantastic. The atmosphere isn’t the most elegant, but the food makes up for it.

We had dinner here twice during the festival de Calle San Sebastián. Both our waiters Miguel and Yohani, were a great help in pointing out what they thought was good. We’ve eaten before 3 yrs ago and as anything food changes. I had the pork chops with rice and beans, my wife had the mofongo with a salad. The 2nd night I had the samething because it was that good the first night my wife also had the shrimp mofongo both nights, and was not disappointed. If you get a chance check it out good food great service.

While participating in a San Juan foodie tour we stopped at the café for some ceviche and alcupurias. While this is a small eatery we waited in the lobby for our treats. Determined to eat there one day we decided to have our last lunch here(since we could not make it back here during our previous trip). Please note patrons may sit in an air conditioned dining room if eating in. We started out with some ceviche and alcupurias which were both very good. In fact, the alcupurias were our favorite! Unfortunately, we had a flight to catch and ordered our remaining dishes to go. Skirt steak and mofongo and arroz con camerones. We missed the flight, the beans(packed separately in plastic cups) spilled everywhere. My boyfriend tried the steak and mentioned it being tough. The kid loved the shrimp. We believe this is a place we must sit down and eat at instead of ordering to go. Meats can continue cooking or dry out while traveling. Next time we’ll eat there and provide a more thorough review. We can only give it a three as the meat was overcooked and on the dry side. Next time we’ll dine in!

I have to admit i found this place by accident. I was skeptical being so close to parque de palomas, Capilla de Cristo and La Fortaleza but decided to try it. The food was delicious. The rice and beans, chicken breast, shakes and natural juices… delicious. I am in shock of how good everything was. Quick service and air conditioning was awesome. Excellent spot… highly recommend!

The best thing I ever ate: stuffed avocado with creole shrimp, rice and beans, and sweet plantains. I could eat this every day. This restaurant is in the back of an artists shoppe(local art being sold), and isn’t anywhere near fancy. Atmosphere leaves a little to be desired, but the staff are super friendly and the food is amazing. Can’t wait to return here.

Comida riquisima. En especial, vengan por el aguacate relleno(cualquiera) y arroz, habichuelas y amarillos. Exquisite food. Specially, come for the stuffed avocado(with any stuffing) and rice, beans, and sweet plantains.

Located close to the Governor’s mansion, this is a small family run restaurant in Olds San Juan. We went there just half hour before closing time, but we’re greeted enthusiastically by Miguel. The ambience is casual and gives a feeling of sitting by the sea. The food is mostly Puerto Rican cuisine, but vegetarians needn’t be disappointed. They do have a few vegetarian options. The Monfongos are awesome. Try this with the sweet fried plantains and then you will reach 7th heaven. The piña colada appears more authentic compared to the mainland US versions and I was conflicted about it. Loved it for authenticity but disliked it for not tasting the same as on the mainland. The service was quick, as the crowd was thin towards closing time. Would love to go here once again if possible. A must try if in Old San Juan.

An affordable way to sample a diverse array of Puerto Rican cuisine. Service is barebones but the food is solid all around, as is their complementary hot sauce. I appreciated the crispiness of the tostones and the sweet plantains, they know their way around the fryer at Punto de Vista. Wasn’t a fan of the churrasco, as it wasn’t tender or really juicy. It was just OK. The mofongo itself is also a solid effort, not the best I’ve ever had but a good introduction for out of towners who have never tried it. It’s got a good hint of garlic without being overpowering.

My friend and I come here often to order Rice&Beans with two eggs on top. It’s simple and delicious and the staff is super cool. It’s not a particularly attractive place but what appears on your plate IS! Also, any of their items served inside their fresh avocados are excellent. My favorite part of visiting here is the way cool sisters that work here with their brother! Wayyy cool. Does the owner of this spot know how well he has it with these three superstar employees? I hope so!

Me and my wife dined here on our honeymoon. Our cruise ship docked in San Juan for the day. After going on a rainforest excursion, we had our tour guide drop us off deep into town. We looked at the restaurants that were recommended by Carnival; they were out of our price range. After some walking we stumbled upon Café El Punto and said«why not?» We both ordered the exact same thing: chicken tostones, w/rice, black beans and plantains. Now, I have never had authentic Puerto Rican food before so I have nothing to compare it with. However, I will say that this was the best food I have ever had in my life. We loved it. Better yet, we seemed to have been away from all of the tourists. It seems like this establishment brings in a lot of local traffic. When me and my wife talk about our honeymoon, Café El Punto always comes up as one of our favorite experiences.

I was recommended this place by Jose M! After checking into my hotel it was my first stop as my red-eye and short layover in ATL did not allow much time for any eats. I had the fresh mango juice to start — literally the most ripe mangos were blended straight into my cup. Best fruit juice I’ve had in a while. Next I ordered the crab stuffed avocado with my two sides being tostones(fried green plantain — salty, not sweet) and a salad. The salad was literally some lettuce, carrots, and tomato — no dressing. It was fine, but I wouldn’t choose that over the other options next time! Before leaving I decided to carry out some shrimp mofongo in case I didn’t want to venture out in the heat again for dinner. This was a good idea as traffic getting in and out of old town can be dicey, not to mention finding parking! When I opened up the to-go box I realized the server made a mistake and gave me the crab mofongo instead of shrimp. Not a big deal as the crab is amazzzzing! Did not leave disappointed. Will likely be back here before the week is out. Yum!!!

Quaint café that sat at the end of a long walkway. We would’ve missed it had there not been a woman handing out postcard menus while we were browsing the hat store next door. They have a small air conditioned seating area with 5 or 6 tables, which was a welcomed reprieve from the afternoon sun. The boy had the beef empanada and I had the chicken mofongo along with the rice and beans, tostones, and Chilean salad. I can’t say whether the mofongo was how it’s suppose to be since it was my first, but it was certainly not something that I would order again. I found the chicken dry and the mofongo bland. The empanada was fine though it’s hard to mess up ground beef wrapped in dough. The sides were okay, nothing to rave about considering they even missed the salt on the tostones. Luckily, my mediocre Spanglish kicked in and I overheard the server advertise the 2 for $ 12 mojitos. Those were boring too and alcohol was non existent, better off sticking to the fruit smoothies.

I am Unilocaling while in El Punto. Free WiFi for you out of towner. Strong Mojito. I am no light weight, but man, awesome drinks! Grouper with creole sauce is like no other fish I ever tasted and I have been visiting the island 4 times. Best ever! The chicken on avocado also awesome, but the grouper is the best. A bit off the Main Street but awesome! My date may have to carry me to the car. P. s. Order the sweet plantain or bean on rice for your sides. You will thank me.

Not a fan! Came here because they had a trip advisor sticker on their door. Little did I know that I’d be the meal for a mosquito infested restaurant. The employees did offer me mosquito repellent after the fact. They all said they spray themselves down prior to going to work. Maybe they should put a sign«eat at your own caution» somewhere visible for us to see! Anyway I will say the service was good but the shrimp monfongo was dry and my husbands fish was not worth the $ 25. Mojitos however was tasty. The bartender messed up on our order but we didn’t bother to have them correct since it would take a while for them to prepare another. Overall, my first and only time there.
