Besides having a horrible time getting in touch with them via phone and email, they ignored our accommodations request form that THEY emailed me and they tried to charge me more than double the rate that I booked our room for. Don’t let the grand property fool you. We are in a red level«ocean front» room that only has a view if you’re standing up on the balcony. The room is old, the bathroom is dirty(note: hair on toilet). The butlers are SUPER nice and lovely but the property is not well kept on the interiors. We went to the spa today and they gave us our services for free because they were so bad. The nail polish was old, the technician, although nice, had no clue how to even do a simple polish change. Horrible service everywhere we’ve been in the resort so far. We just heard other Red level guests complain of the same issues by the pool. Our room was never serviced today so I had to call housekeeping and when my daughter forgot her toothbrush, we called the number suggested for incidentals as such and no one answered. Still here so I’m sure there will be more things to note but so far, I can’t wait to leave here tomorrow. I am ONLY giving two stars because Tony and Joshua(red level butlers) rock. Otherwise, I’d give this place ½ a star for the ambiance, service and food.

Room service comes here everyday, but they DON’T CLEAN. The floor is just as dirty after room service when we come back as when we leave in the morning(mind you, this resort has a beach and a lot of trees which means no matter where you go, there will be sand and soil). The also DONOT change your bed sheets or pillows. They just fold it neatly, put it back in place and that’s it. How do I know? Fell asleep with make up, got some eye shadow on the sheets, come back at night, everything is neatly folded but the bed sheets STILL have eye shadow on it. I also think they don’t change the towels, they give you a new one ONLY if you leave the dirty ones on the floor and they really can’t reuse it again. The face towel we used in the morning was still wet when we came back at night, meaning they didn’t give us a new one. Everything about this place is so unsanitary. They also have a really creepy picture behind the toilet. NOWIFI. We paid I believe $ 15 a day for wifi, and there was NONE. We could connect for maybe 10 minutes and it would cut off. Called room service almost every day to fix it, they only sent a person once, he «fixed» it, we connected for about 10 minutes, and same thing again. Called again to complain and whoever picked up told us basically too bad, if it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work. Then why did we pay for wifi? This resort is secluded, there’s barely any phone service, and we needed service to make confirmations for our scuba diving trips, etc. And worse of all? BEDBUGS. NO. NO. NO. No thanks. My friend had so many bites on her even after sleeping with leggings and long sleeve on. NO. Nothing is worse the price of being bitten by bed bugs. We work at a dermatologist and see insect bites a lot, it was definitely not mosquitoes, our doctor told us it was bed bugs for sure.

I read all the reviews before me & my young son arrived for our 5day mini-vacation in Puerto Rico. I have NOIDEA what the 1 – 2 Star ratings are about — THISPROPERTYISBEAUTIFUL&AMAZING!!! The property is gorgeous & I have traveled in the Carribean, Europe, Hawaii… The staff was friendly, professional & helpful. THe lobby had EVERYTHING you could ever want!(cabanas, pool table, bar, shopette, concierge services and even an entertaining talking parrot!) The room was just perfect! Beautiful bathroom, furnishings and fixtures that were all appropriate for the setting/ambiance. The pool was EXACTLY as pictured and the beach was never so crowded that you couldn’t find a good spot. No, it’s not a huge stretch of beach and you cannot surf but Coco Beach is not known for those characteristics. My ONLY regret was that the resort is quite isolated so local food is impossible to get and you are forced to eat hotel restaurant offerings. We will ALWAYS stay here when we visit PR. Here’s the final review: My 10yo started crying when we had to leave & said, «Mommy, can we come back to this same place soon?» That says it all for me…

This 3 day vacation was a excellent! I did’t wanna leave. I’m actually sitting back at my desk at work pretty miserable looking through pictures from this past weekend. The hotel and its staff were wonderful. They were very helpful and attentive. Our room was great and fairly modern. The pool and wet bar were excellent. The food was excellent, we tried quite a few things on the menu. The gym was fully loaded with high quality equipment. The only downside is the traveling. The hotel is located in Rio Grande therefore if you do not rent a car you will be stuck at the hotel. You have to drive about 45 – 50 minutes to get to San Juan and Old San Juan to explore. We had a car and we didn’t mind the drive therefore it was still an amazing time. I would definitely go back to this hotel.

Our stay started on Friday 7÷18÷2014 check in was a breeze. We were greeted by pleasant people and Raymond got us our room key in a matter of minutes. I have to say that I am a pretty happy person and find that when you meet people with a great attitude, they match it with theirs. Parking is $ 15 a day. That is kind of obnoxious considering the location of the resort, but nothing I didn’t expect. We rented a car and it was worth the $ 15 not to be stuck at the resort all day. We got to explore and there is no price tag on that experience. Our room was immaculate! Cleaned everyday and beautiful! The only thing that I would complain about, if I had to complain, is that the floors are made of beautiful marble. This is mildly problematic if it’s humid outside and you have your balcony door open because they tend to get a little wet and slippery. But let me tell you, they are gorgeous. The bathtub is HUUUGE. Thanks guys! I appreciate that. The pool is totally clean and maybe it’s a little old, but def not falling apart. We honestly spent more time on the beach because no one else was there. Regardless of what people below me have said, you CAN in fact swim in on the beach. I will post pictures of me doing so. I appreciate that the hotel has not ripped up all of the kelp and natural structures of the beach. These things are essential to the marine ecosystem and are there for a reason, — Because they serve a purpose. So I applaud you Gran Melia for thinking of this before ripping it all up for esthetic purposes to appease the human animals that frequent your beach. If you want to swim on a «better» looking beach Liquillo beach is nearby and is b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l… Room service takes about 45 mins consistently. I ordered room service because it’s cheaper and less of a hassle than the restaurants. I have noticed that this is average for Puerto Rico. This is a very laid back place. I was warned by my Puerto Rican family, and friends that have visited the island before that if you are used to getting things fast in the continental US, you better learn to wait because no one in Puerto Rico is in a hurry. Knowing this, I was not disappointed with the service at all. Every single person I came in contact with on this resort was an angel and more than willing to do anything I asked of them. They just did it a little bit slower than McDonald’s. Seriously, you’re on a Caribbean vacation. Slow down and enjoy it. I’m just going to make one more suggestion, and that is to tip. I tip well and I believe it shows people how much you appreciate what they do for you. You don’t have to tip for things they are supposed to do, but if you ask for something extra tip the people! Don’t go on vacation if you can’t afford to be courteous. They are not your slaves. The grounds are beautiful. The drive in is a little mundane after a while, but whatever. I saw all kinds of Iguanas which really makes me happy. The landscaping is really something amazing!
