Awesome empanadas and under $ 3 each! They were fresh and soft. We found this place on our last day and wish it could have happened earlier in the week for a repeat trip!

Loved it. Great food. Lots of locals go there and that has to be a great sign. I would definitely go back

Best place to have turnovers(empanadillas or empanadas) one of the best places to have local food, cooked like our grandmothers style, a must in your restaurants list while in Vieques. I highly recommend El Resuelve for lunch or to grab some empanadas before you go to the beach.

You know it’s a good sign when a restaurant is packed with locals. If you want so great Puerto Rican food that’s not too expensive — this is your place. Pastelillos were tasty, but my favorite was the octopus salad with mofongo. The sauce was amazing. Almost reminded me of a stir fry. Highly recommend.

It was our first time in vieques and I was having a hard time looking for an empanadilla de pizza(most frituras have meat in them and i don’t eat meat). After our second night, i was a girl on a mission and eventually found this hidden gem– they had empanadillas de pizza and cold beer… my favorite road trip combination. We had a good time and it was delicious.

Great place for lunch before hitting the beach. Order at the counter then sit down. Portions are big!

Oh man… this is it! We ordered way too much food, so be careful. Shrimp empanadas were rocking, so was the garlic shrimp. The very best thing we ate was the beans and rice. The beans came in a small cup with this red gravy and wow what a gravy it was. Next time it will be the focus of my ordering. That good.

Very low quality seafood, can taste the freezer burn. The mofongo was very dry and greasy. We threw away a lot of our food. We even made an effort to come after we saw it was closed, and we were really disappointed. Recommend la gran parada over this place.

We went here after recommendation from a local and also after seeing the five-star reviews on Unilocal. We really do not understand why there are five star reviews of this place. We ordered the fried shrimp, rice and beans, the seafood soup and a side order of mofongo. The shrimp were small and had too much breading. The seafood soup was good but it would’ve been better had it been hot(it was served lukewarm). The rest of the food was mediocre. The atmosphere was nice as it is all outdoor seating alongside a lush garden. We had to wait a few minutes before we were even acknowledged by the bartender/order taker though and that was annoying. If you’re looking for a quick bite to eat on your way to some other place then go here. They have premade empanadas of all kinds ready to go. If you’re looking for mind blowing food, this probably isn’t the place for you. It is cheap though, and that’s a plus.

Very authentic Puerto Rican food. Had the grilled chicken with rice and beans, as well as mofongo. The whole meal was simple, yet superlatively delicious. It’s a bit hard to find, as it looks like a «hole-in-the-wall» kind of place off the side of the road. The service was good, but it is not guaranteed that English will be spoken by the server. There was the perfect amount of items on the menu, and a good selection of drinks. If you want a delicious, entirely authentic Caribbean dining experience, this is the place to go!

We found Resuelve after probing a number of locals for the best local food. The number one answer was Resuelve. We got there after the kitchen had closed, but they still had a case with large hand-made empanadas for about $ 2 each, which our group of 7 quickly bought out. They were fantastic! Conch, crab, chicken, beef, shrimp and more; we all shared and devoured them with house-made piqué(PR hot sauce). The next day, we went back for lunch(and later, a snack after the beach), which of course, was amazing. The menu is on a chalk board in spanish, with some loosely translated english. They serve an array of everything good and local. If you are with a few people, have everyone order something different so you can try it all! We ordered Mofongo, whole fried fish(so fresh it was swimming a few hours before), octopus salad, grilled fish, chicken, chicken soup, yucca with butter and onion, just to name a few. THEWHOLEFRIEDFISHIS A MUST! But, when they say whole fried, they mean it, be prepared to filet it yourself and stare into its eyes as you dine. That being said, it is likely to be the best fish you will ever eat. It’s a tiny operation, perhaps family operated, and of the few staff, not everyone speaks fluent english. They are very friendly and happy to see people enjoy their food. They will help translate the menu as best they can, but my suggestion is to ask them what their favorite menu item is… can’t go wrong with that! Don’t expect any touristy bells and whistles here. This is a local joint, outdoors with a tent over the seating area and a pool table in front. The plates and utensils are plastic and you place and pick up your order yourself. The prices are super inexpensive, I paid about $ 15 for whole fried fish, Mofongo, yucca with onion, and top shelf rum on the rocks. They are not open every day, and their closing time varies, so be sure to ask or call ahead. We went here 3 times in 2 days, and then back again to find it closed twice… some of the lucky members of our group made it a few more times before we had to leave Vieques. Can’t wait to go back!

This restaurant is located quite conveniently on your way home from the beach on route 997, if you’re heading north to Isabela II(or coming from). They’ve got pretty good empanadas — fish, chicken and the carne ones were the best! Crab and octopus were okay. We tried a couple of the mains and they were a little too salty. but fairly cheap for a quick bite… although I wouldn’t recommend it. 4 stars for the empanadas. the perfect snack before or after the beach(es).
