I swear this is exactly like breakfast places in the cape(ma). The hash is decent and the coffee is included in the price for bfast. The regular toast and French toast are not good– not worth ordering. The home fries are good! Nothing blew me away but they have free wifi so I was in desperate need of it.

Great location with pretty amazing views. Ambience is nice, with a character. Service is efficient and friendly. Now the food: I ordered a Lobster Benedict and my husband had lean corn beef hash. Benedict was tasteless with overlooked rubbery lobster and no palm hearts in site. Totally overpriced unsatisfying meal. Corn beef hash was good. Coffee mediocre.

Had the huveos rancheros which was tasty. Kids had pancakes which they enjoyed. Also typical but good eggs Benedict. Free refills coffee and friendly attentive service. Nice view!

We stopped in for dinner our first night on the island. This spot is definitely popular with the older tourist crowd. The service and menu were great with lots of local options and fresh seafood. We had the Dorado(mahi mahi) and shrimp mofongo. The food was okay but didn’t have much flavor. For the price I recommend checking out Next Course or El Quenepo.

We had dinner here on the advice of a nice gentleman. Where it does have a good view I would not recommend for dinner. We had one of the pasta dishes with flounder and while the pasta was good the flounder tasted frozen. We also had the artichoke hearts with Gorgonzola cream the dish tasted flat and there were large chunks of a cheese(not Gorgonzola) that could not be distinguished from the artichoke. The server did offer to take it off our bill. Very pricey. Lots of better places nearby. Urban Cowgill Feb 2015

More like a 3.5… First breakfast was a 4, second breakfast a 3. Came here only for breakfast because there aren’t that many places open for breakfast. We tried the lobster eggs benedict which was actually quite good. The portion of lobster was quite large which was nice, and the eggs were cooked perfectly and runny. Another morning I had the fast Freddie(egg and bacon on a croissant) and my friend had the omelette Florentine. This breakfast was okay, the description for the sandwich said scrambled egg, I didn’t realize it was scrambled with green peppers, I’m not a huge fan of green peppers. My friend said his omelette was okay, hoped for more spinach. This is one of the few places open for breakfast and early too so it is a good option. Very American which I guess isn’t a bad thing because they are open I think the earliest on the strip for breakfast. Good selection of items, tastes okay to good.

Daily fish specials were delicious!(Although we were surprised to find out fish was farm raised.) A bit more expensive than we had expected, but food was great! For dessert we had the piña colada bread pudding– yum! Restaurant/bar seating is on upper level so beautiful views of the water while you eat! Next time would love to try paella on a Sunday night…

If you are in Vieques go to Trade Winds… if you are there on a Sunday get the Paella!!! It was our first night on the island and what a way to kick-off a few days of R and R. Trade Winds was recommended by a friend and we decided to try it out. What a great decision, the service was great, the drinks delicious and the food absolutely wonderful. We started with Escargot, Yucca and Shrimp and the Conch Fritters. I am a big fan of any kind of fritters, and the Conch fritters were the best I have ever had(and I am from Rhode Island, so we know Fritters). The were flavorful, and airy with a ton of flavor. Chef David knocked the Paella out of the park! It was full of shrimp, scallops, mussels clams and squid and the chicken and sausage added the perfect balance for the well seasoned rice. The portions were huge and it was a bursting with flavor. We ended with a the Guava cheesecake which was the perfect ending to a wonderful experience. The servers were on point checking in at the right time and Chef David even came out to chat with us. The location of the Trade Winds is right on the main strip in Esperanza and a must stop when you are in town.

Better than average food, not the most informed staff. Example: one person told us all of the fish on the menu was farm raised(including dorado.) All five meals were well prepared and enjoyable, however none knocked it out of the park. We had a paella, two fish dishes prepared different ways, a $ 50 spiny lobster, and a curry quinoa w/lobster. The menu is much larger than any other place we have visited, which might contribute to the lack of focus. Worth one visit, but a second try is still under consideration.

Of the food I had in Esperanza, Trade Winds is certainly the restaurant I would skip. We were looking for local seafood, so we had the Dorado. Not much else on the menu was local and nothing was really all that innovative or interesting. The Dorado wasn’t anything special, In fact, it was pretty bland. We also got the seafood chowder which was decent. We also had the thai shrimp, which again wasn’t anything special. It was way too expensive at dinnertime for food that was pretty mediocre. As many of the other reviews said, the service was great and the staff was friendly, so that’s why it gets two stars. If you’re going to spend this much money on dinner, you might as well go to El Bloq or El Conepo down the street, both of which had much more interesting menu items. It seems like it might be a good place to go if you have kids that just want to eat really boring American food like burgers and such. Otherwise, go eat somewhere else for dinner.

We were surprised that this beach front restaurant didn’t serve local seafood. The specials included salmon and tilapia, neither of which were fresh. We had a fried seafood platter and shrimp with pasta. The seafood platter was mostly French fries. The pasta was very oily and the shrimp were completely overdone. Very expensive for cheap bar food quality.

This place is positioned in the perfect spot directly across from the beautiful Vieques beach. The room clean wasn’t fancy but was spacious and had great water pressure and heat. The AC unit in the room can get it pretty frosty. The complimentary breakfast was simple cereal, bagels, coffee, juice and some fruit. The Tradewinds has a gift shop and the staff is sweet and helpful. They also have online packages where you can book the room and the bioluminescence boat tour at the same time and save like $ 20 dollars. The restaurant attached isn’t open for all meals but there are local restaurant’s down the street if not.

We had the most fabulous dinner here on out last night of a two week visit. We had the specials. The cheese tortellini with salmon and lemon cream sauce and the ribeye with sundries tomato mashed potatoes. It was amazing

Probably would have given this place a four star if it wasn’t for the high price. The conch fritters were pretty good, as well as the fried oysters; we had both as appetizers. Has the filet and it was delicious! But like I said, for the price I was expecting a little more.

The Cheese Burger here was good. The Service was so so. most of the staff was friendly except for one person who I think was having a bad day. The view is great. Worth trying, its not a bad place to eat but not on my awesome list.

Driving along the main drag in Esperanza, and you might just miss this restaurant. Limited parking out front, but plenty around the corner. Right before the stairs there is a polite sign to rinse off the sand in your feet before stepping right up — refreshed the dogs after a long hot day at the beach. Pick a seat once up the stairs, but go for the seats along the balcony, and preferably under the umbrellas. Great views of the boardwalk and the ocean from the entire restaurant. Started with the conch fritters which were crispy, puffy, and spiced just right. Brunch continued with the lobster benedict. Sweet tender pieces of lobster meat on a toasted English muffin covered with a not so traditional hollandaise sauce — spiked with butter which went quite well with my tasty crustacean. For whatever reason, this joint was less crowded than the rest, but don’t let that fool you. Give their lunch or brunch a try and you won’t be disappointed.

My husband and I ate here on our honeymoon last week and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff was wonderful. We ordered the shrimp pasta with Thai curry and the lobster pasta in the garlic sauce. I also had the passionfruit martini, which was the special cocktail of the night. I was delighted with the FRESH and flavorful vegetables and fruits that were in the pasta! I kept raving about that one particular aspect all week! The pastas in general were delicious. The lobster was done perfectly, and the curry worked so well with the shrimp. The only thing I’d change when I go back: I’d ask the chef to hold back on the garlic in that garlic sauce.(I have a sensitive palette.) Even so, I enjoyed everything we had very much, and I can’t wait to come again! Also, it’s true about the patio seats. Lovely.
