Found myself in Uppsala on business and stayed at the Radisson Blu hotel. Picnic is the hotel restaurant. The first evening the organizers had us congregate there for a buffet and drinks. Typical bar with the standard fare of drinks. The staff is not particularly well suited to handle crowds, but are very friendly and try hard. Picnic has some local craft beers on tap, including«American style IPA». It wasn’t bad at all. I recommend the Picnic burger. Apparently Swedes like a good burger, and they have one. This restaurant is a safe bet for a solo venture, small group or family. The food is good and the wait staff friendly and personable.

Picnic is the in-house restaurant, sorry, «restaurang» at the new Radisson Blu hotel across from the new train station. I ate all my breakfasts and two dinners while I was a guest at the hotel. It is a bright airy space with high ceilings and floor to ceiling windows, with rustic furniture. The breakfasts is a typical continental spread and everything is well made. Dinner is a bit different. They have two menus: one is small plates and the other is full plates. Both nights I got the sirloin steak with fries and added a side salad. The steak was excellent, definitely not what I expected from a hotel restaurant. The side salad was also very fresh — a mixture of field greens, tomatoes and cucumbers with a dijon vinaigrette. Service was friendly and generally attentive. However, on one dinner visit I waited for 10 minutes at my table before I was greeted and had my drink order taken — annoying when it is 9pm and you are ready to eat your fingers. Minor complaints, though on an overall great dining spot in Uppsala.
