How the mighty have fallen; Lund’s first and oldest Japanese restaurant should(better) now be claimed extinct! I am pretty sure this place introduced sushi to the town of Lund almost 15 years ago! Back then this place had or was managed by proper Japanese chefs and staffs or staffs with some proper Japanese culinary knowledge. Even 10 years ago when I first visited It did deserve 4 stars, even though it was staffed with a younger not so ethnic nor knowledgeable crew. unlucky then, I wasn’t Unilocaling nor was Unilocal around, and unlucky now since I am Unilocaling them with a 1 star rating. They still lucky though Unilocal won’t allow me to give them 0.5! Tabemono has gone through some major changes and these are not only limited to the change of ownership or staff. The restaurant in itself is now older so much so it badly needs refreshment in terms of décor and design; Tabemono feels and is pretty hackneyed! However what stinks the most in the state of Tabemono is the food which is to begin with not really all that Japanese. For instance the buffet contains of such dishes as fried spring rolls or chicken skewers with peanut sauce and these are often served tepid. The fried Salmon tastes and drips of burnt fryer oil. The fish used to make Sashimi/sushi is not fresh, I strongly suspect it might be defrosted in a microwave oven. Maki rolls are made predominantly with processed crab meat or so called crab sticks one buys at a supermarket! The Nigiris are made only with Salmon, shrimp and crab sticks also on the few occasion it is made of tuna it should be regarded as hazardous. Sadly the only reasons why you should visit Tabemono are if you only care about quantity, have no taste buds or for some odd reason want to damage them!
