Wasabi Sushi is not the worst nor the best but certainly the most expensive sushi house in Lund. Geographically speaking Wasabi was always destined to be the posh Japanese restaurant in Lund. Being neighbour with Juridicum, the Faculty of Law, the poshest institution among the Lund’s university faculties Wasabi must have known right from the start what costumers it prominently would attract. Regardless of what one might called these costumers; the in crowd, the elite, snobs, hipsters, spoiled/Stockholm brats, one thing they do have in common is the ability to be overcharged! And Wasabi knows this too well. At Wasabi sushi you will get decent hot or cold small portions of Japanese dishes for a hefty sum of money! One might argue that the size of portions, them being trendy small, might be influenced by the trendy costumers desires of being lean and mean but that is not something I dare to speculate on. The Nigiris, served in pair, as well as the Hosomakis are pretty traditional in contrast to the trendy Futomakis with exciting twists. I who happen to enjoy the more traditional sushi combos did in fact like the teriyaki chicken Maki or the tuna asparagus Maki infused with mango-chilli sauce. However they could do better in regards of the sushi rice as it has been somewhat dry and less vinegary on a couple of occasions. The Yakisobas are pretty decent as well, however the one with tofu and vegetables feels just bland and sometimes odd or as a friend of mine put it «off». I have had better for less and by way more attentive, fast and less trendy nonchalant staffs which is the reason why I give Wasabi Sushi just 2 stars.
