From start to finish a fantastic experience! It is not common in Sweden to find such excellent service like they manage to provide at Rånäs. From the lady in the reception to the bartender and waitress — they are all genuinely nice and strive to please you. My boyfriend(later in the day my fiancé) and I went here on a ‘Luxury Weekend’ and we chose to stay in the actual castle. All of the rooms are newly renovated but with its 1800-century charm conserved. The room is furnished with antiques and there are not two rooms alike. We were both in awe of the beauty of our room when we stepped inside. There were champagne and chocolate truffles awaiting us and we instantly felt royal! The visit starts at about 1PM with afternoon tea in the salon. There are plenty of cakes and pies to choose from and also antipasti like cured ham, artichoke hearts and different cheeses. No need to have lunch before arriving we found out! Between afternoon tea and dinner you can choose from going on a guided tour around the castle, walking in the castle park or enjoying the sauna and the hot tubs by the lake. Rånäs Slott takes a lot of pride in their food. Preferably they shop local and organic produce and you never know in advance what will be served in their 5 course dinner. Normally, places like this constitutes an issue for my boyfriend since he is allergic to fish and nuts. The chefs did an excellent job substituting the all of these ingredients and composing great dishes that were as delicious as mine. I chose the wine package which was absolutely amazing and perfectly paired to the food, and I found two new favorite wines because of it. I have to say it again: our waitress gave us the best service possible! The castle is absolutely beautiful and full of Italian paintings on walls and ceilings. It is a very romantic spot but I also heard that it is a popular conference center. If you are staying the night, watch out for the ghosts! When they are not fully booked, you can also visit the castle just to have afternoon tea or dinner. Age limit: 12 years.
