Ramen in Stockholm? I didn’t believe it either, but this place came up on Unilocal while we were walking around in Old Town(of all places). We walked in the first time to order a green tea and check it out, before moving on. Then we turned back around and came back after a few minutes, mostly out of curiosity to see what ramen in Stockholm would taste like. And turns out, the Unilocalers aren’t wrong, this ramen is actually quite good, definitely comparable to other places I’ve eaten! We ordered miso ramen: the broth was flavorful(but not too much so), the meat was juicy and tender, and the egg was perfectly soft-boiled. I would have liked to see some additional slices of meat and/or the other half of the egg, but still, it was quite a good(and very pretty) bowl of ramen. Top it off with some iced green tea, which is refreshing and light. If it’s a nice day, sit outside and people watch. It’s particularly fun to watch people double-take as they realize they’re walking past a ramen shop in Stockholm.

My friend and I were tired of braving the rain in the Old Town and decided to grab some comfort food for lunch, so Café Stiernan was the obvious choice. We both opted for the shoyu ramen with prawns and dare I say it was the best ramen I’ve ever had? This isn’t your boring Wagamama ramen, no no no! — the flavours felt authentic and were perfect for a rainy day. I also have to say that the woman working there, which I assume was the owner, was lovely and genuine. Her daughter was helping out and served me my bowl of ramen, and my heart just melted from cuteness overload. This place really lives up to it’s reputation — try it, you won’t regret it!

We have the miso ramen and the ramen. Both with pork. Good experience and not expensive. We’ll be coming back!

Right proper Ramen! Delicious home made stock. Possibly the best Ramen in Stockholm, and easily one of the best lunches in Gamla Stan. Be forwarded though, the place is rather small and fills up really quickly around lunch and dinner time.

Cute place. Nice view to the side. Not so much of the front. Nice presentation bowl. Ok ramen. My soup wasn’t that hot and the noodles were just ok. Soup was bland. The cold noodles were good though, so I would eat that again. I’ve ate many ramen shops in Japan, worked at a ramen shop, and even went to ramen school. So to me this is eh.

Excellent ramen. I asked the clerk what she recommended, and she said #1(don’t remember) or, if I liked spicy, #2(miso). Then I started to order the shrimp as a topping, but she corrected me: pork. So be it. I got the miso with pork. It was great, although frankly, I was sort of indifferent to the half hard boiled egg on top. Overall, this was a nice spot for lunch.

Worth going? Yes if you value ambiance, but disappointing ramen broth(I am comparing to Japanese standards, it’s my first time having ramen in Sweden). We came here for lunch today. First the positives– the restaurant is located in Stockholm’s lovely old town, and the space is bright and sunny. The design is not Japanese, but instead Scandinavian with warmer tones. You can sit at a counter facing the chefs or at counters along the windows. The staff are friendly and obliging. On to the food– we had the salmon sashimi to start. The quality of the fish was good but that was the one redeeming quality of the dish. The wasabi(which as always outside of Japan is not real wasabi), was even less potent than usual, and the ribbons of white radish and carrots were not well-pickled enough to have flavor. I had the shoyu ramen with chashu– the chashu was very tasty indeed, and the noodles had a good bite. But the broth lacked any real depth or complexity of flavor. My partner had the miso ramen also with chashu. His broth had more flavor, and a bit of heat, but still not much depth or complexity.

Fantastic high quality ramen restaurant located in central old town in Stockholm. Quite small place with twelve seats inside during winter time and a few extra seats during summer outside. Friendly and helpful personnel. Food is great, but for some people the soup might be a tad too salty. Take away option. Price is sound 15 usd(135 kr). Choose between chimp, chicken or pork. Vegetarian option available and custom orders. One dessert option. Serves wine, coffee, juice and carbonated beverages. Interior design might needed a upgrade, however is good enough. No toilet.

Great to find a ramen place in old town. This is a café and ramen ya. It’s like any ramen ya and your glasses fog up when you enter. The Swedish twist is that shrimps are offered as a topping. They have the three traditional broth that you would find in ramen places: shio, miso, and shoyu. They ran out of shio when we were here. The master is Swedish. I had the shoyu pork ramen. The chasu is decent and fresh. The ingredients are quite authentic. The staff are so friendly and you can have a friendly chat with them. My companions were quite impressed with the taste.

Stopped for tea and coffee. Their iced green tea is the best I’ve ever had. Next time will come for ramen.

This place is run by the nicest people. The breakfast is a little expensive for what you get but that shouldn’t matter as the reason you come here is for the ramen. You’ll quite often have difficulty seeing through the windows as they’re all steamed up from ramen pots and people. I just wish they’d have longer opening hours.

Great Ramon. The staff is very friendly and patient — despite being in the middle of a street littered with tourists like me. Note that they no longer offer wifi. That was a little disappointment as I brought my laptop with the intention of checking email while eating lunch.

Who would’ve thought you’d find delicious authentic ramen in the middle of Gamla Stan, Stockholm! Found this place randomly on Unilocal and was really glad to have tried it out. The place is actually a café with pastries, coffee, and ramen. Interesting combination, but it seems to work for them since during the lunch hour, it was packed! Since it’s a small café, there were only a few bar seats(maybe about 10 – 15 spots). It seems like a popular place for take out because there was line out the door. The two people running the café were definitely hustling to take care of all of their customers promptly. Service was good considering they were really busy. They had 3 different choices for ramen — pork, shrimp, and chicken. All three of them were good, though keep in mind the shrimp ramen used the small Bay shrimps. The noodles were cooked just right. They also included more fixings than I expected, half an egg and a few different veggies. They even had the Japanese spice powder that most ramen places have! I deducted 1 star only because the broth, though good, was way too salty. My mom actually asked the lady for a cup of hot water and mixed it with her broth halfway through the meal, which made the broth flavoring just right.

The ramen was good. It was pretty surprising to find this little place in Stockholm. The noodles were good, the pork was pretty good, and they had all of the right toppings/fixings. The broth was just REALLY salty. But we noticed that a lot of things in Stockholm were insanely salty, so I wouldn’t hold it against this place in particular; seems to be the norm in Stockholm. I would definitely go back.

I never thought I would find good ramen in Stockholm. Café Stiernan was a nice surprise! I ordered the pork ramen and the broth was very flavorful. I also liked the sliced raw scallion as a topping. Overall, very impressed. Next time I come to Stockholm I will definitely come back and try the chicken flavor.

Great ramen for being in Sweden. Noodles are great, the pork on the other hand is more like bacon than the traditional chashu pork. Not a lot of seating, so not optimal for big groups but great for a quick lunch in the old city of Stockholm!

Definitely DEFINITELY worth a visit here! This place is easy to miss– little café in busy Gamla Stan(old town Stockholm), just from looking at it you wouldn’t event think they have real food there. I’m SOGLAD that I Unilocaled the area before I got there, because I read all the great reviews and was determined to find this place and try their ramen. Absolutely worth every word of the positive reviews!!! The waitress was so nice, took my order and was fine with taking out ingredients I’m allergic to. When I tasted the noodles and the broth and all the fresh ingredients, I was iN HEAVEN. It was unexpectedly the BESTMEAL I had in Stockholm. Strangely enough, I was raised in Asia, then in California, yet the best ramen I have ever tasted was found in Stockholm, Sweden, of all place!!!

OMG, best ramen ever. And I’ve tried A LOT of ramen, having even studied in Japan as well. I love their ramen. You would never think this place have ramen because it just looks like a coffee shop, but seriously, come here for the ramen. Thanks to my Unilocalers, I was able to search ramen and this place showed up. We came and was really surprised that it looks like a regular coffee shop. We weren’t expecting it to be any good from the looks of it, didn’t look like a ramen house. Ordered. Sat. It came out, and it was a big bowl with a ladle for the soup. I got chicken ramen, it came with plenty of chicken slices, bean sprouts, half a soft boiled egg, carrots, spinach and arugula, green onions, and a seaweed paper. Usually ramen places do not give you many toppings, or even more than 3 slices of meat! This place gave you 8! The chicken was so tender and lean. My bf got the smoked pork and it tasted like bacon, it was delicious. The broth was excellent! It had great flavors without it being extremely salty(like most ramens). It was a lighter broth ramen. Apparently the person who makes their ramen is a lady from Japan. And thank goodness because she does a really great job! We wanted to come back to Café Stiernan before we left to America but didn’t have the chance. Even my BF(who doesn’t like ramen, loved it!) Totally recommend it, skip the phở and get the ramen.

Walking around the Old town, lamenting the fact that there’s nothing to eat :-) I saw this place and immediately Unilocaled it. The reviews seemed too good to be true but I thought I’d give it a try and see if it’d live up to the hype. It did, the ramen was amazing! I’m not a big fan of Japanese food(maybe I’ve just been to the wrong places) but this was above and beyond. Even the egg was cocked to perfection. I had the chicken which was perfectly cocked and thinly sliced. The café is a bit small but I found it cosy. As regards the staff, they were friendly and attentive. I got the feeling that they really cared about the food. This place is well worth visit if you want good food for a decent price and if you want to get away from the touristy places on Österlånggatan.

This has to be the best food I’ve had in all of Europe! I am torn between the ramen and the mozzarella sandwich. However if you’re here only once you have to try the ramen! I wish more people were like Paris(the owner and chef) and took pride in their work and deliver truly great food.

normally i avoid eating in gamla stan, but i heard about this place that serves ramen… what! i must have walked by the café 3 times before realized it was the place i was looking for. though tempted by the cakes, i resolved to try only the fabled ramen. and it was good! no sweaty, thick pork broth, just delicate shoyu. the addition of carrot shavings was a bit weird, but i wasn’t expecting authenticity. the noodles surprised me the most; just enough bite and flavour, animated with each slurp of soup and little swedish shrimp. my only regret is not having more stomach space to try the dan dan noodles!

Stockholm is certainly not the first place I expected to find a fantastic bowl of ramen but Café Stiernan proved my noodle-loving heart oh so very wrong. Wandering along the charming streets of Gamla stan(The Old Town) mein Deutsch sherpa and I spotted a tiny chalkboard sign advertising noodles and we decided to get out of the cold and give it a go. Once inside, I couldn’t have been more pleased. This tiny café has a cosy air about it and after hanging our coats we took two seats at the counter. One look at the ramen offering and we both asked for a bowl. Whilst we waited for it to be assembled we ate some very nice homemade bread. Nothing could have prepared me for the beautiful bowl I then received: brilliant coloured veg, succulent pork, toothsome yet tender noodles and broth full of umami. I’ve been dreaming of the stuff ever since.
