One of my favourite watering holes in Stockholm. Good food, decent prices and nice staff.

You know the T-shirts that the staff wear that say«boring shirt, great service»? Last saturday those T shirts should have said«funny shirt, shitty service». We’re used to a MUCH better experience at Rhino. The food is fine, but it is the usual service that is wonderful. This saturday the usual chef/server wasn’t working, this was someone new. He seemed to be expecting vast hordes that would descend and ravage the buffet, and he sounded verrrry put out if we asked him anything or asked him for service. We walked in and sat down(we’ve always been asked to pay after we’ve eaten) and after about 5 minutes we hear someone hollering… at us… and its the server standing at the cash machines yelling across the restaurant to us, insisting we should pay first. We obliged and asked him why there was a change from the usual brunch routine and he said that it was because it was so busy and there were so many people… I don’t know how many beers he had drunk but there was only one other table of four people there… It just got worse, the sliders were chucked across the table at us, no explanation, we tried flagging him down more than a few times to ask him what the sliders were and also to order tea and so on and he literally brushed us off. Something we ordered right after we sat down showed up at the end of the meal and when we finally flagged him down and managed to make him identify the sliders he looked concerned and asked if we were allergic. No, we’re just not used to being treated like pigs having their feed slung at them, the usual staff are great about coming over and asking us how the food was, if we needed something AND telling us about what was in the sliders and other food, because we WANT to know. We don’t just come to Rhino to get our bellies full, we come to Rhino to have a chill brunch experience served by staff that KNOW good food and good service. He also asked us and everyone else if they had a reservation and if they didn’t he directed them to the really uncomfortable bench seating… but when we left the table seating was fairly empty. And the chicken wings were… weird, it wasn’t the usual piece that we call wings, it was literally the whole 3 piece chicken wing with joints and everything. We usually tip, needless to say, we didn’t this time, not the least because we PAIDBEFOREWEATE! And this weekend, we started exploring other brunch options.

The brunch here is pretty inexpensive for everything you get – only 169kr! There are salads, sliders, eggs, mac and cheese, curry chicken, hot wings, pancakes, brownies… need I go on? I was so freaking full when I left here! The interior is surprisingly hip for being attached to a business center in Liljeholmen. It seems a little misplaced like it should’ve been in Söder and just chose a location over the river because the rent was cheaper. However, I’m so glad it’s in my hood! I plan on going here again! I was thinking it might be a nice place to take the family on a Saturday morning. There is so much to choose from and it wouldn’t be that expensive for a larger group of us. One of the only suggestions I have are that the chairs we sat on were a little uncomfortable. They were going for a hip and industrial look, I get it… but, the iron rod that held the chair up was in an inconvenient spot that made me want to sit sideways. Also, the mac and cheese could use a better cheddar. It wasn’t bad enough to stop eating it but it was still a little funky tasting. Lastly, the hot wings would’ve been better in a buffalo sauce with a blue cheese dip. The flavor was too similar to the curry chicken they had next to it. ;-/ Overall, I was pretty pleased with the place. The food was good and the service was friendly! I recommend giving the Saturday brunch a try if your in the area.

I just love this place! It is an island of «abroad» service in Sweden. Personnel is very interactive, communicative, polite and open! Food is good and healthy(if you not taking double cheese lasagna, of course, hihi). I have got lucky enough to work nearby, so almost every day I am there:-)

Brunch California style! Yay! I am so happy to find a restaurant in the hood that serves a brunch that’s just as I remembered the years in SF(where brunch is the eighth sacrament — after Sunday mass). And yes, the brunch served weekends noon to 5pm is worth a detour towards the water. Two amazing salads(Caesar and a Mediterranean with beets and feta) with really fresh vegetables, Mac and cheese, chicken wings, American pancakes, amazing burger sliders, and poached eggs with seafood hollandaise. And of course you can end it with a very rich brownie topped with a marshmallow! The coffee they serve is strong and has the nice American flavors that I’d expect. Service is efficient and welcoming although it’s just one server and a cook.

Rhino is a smallish restaurant that opened in the Liljeholmskajen area. They are trying to cater to both the business and the people living here so they offer breakfast, lunch and dinner. I have walked by the place many times but been a bit hesitant as it to me looked a bit like take on an American steakhouse so I got Texas Longhorn vibes. Still I wanted to give it a go so stopped by for dinner. They have jumped on the burger trend(which I guess is way past trend now) so serve up a few different burgers as well as some salads and a few snacks and desserts. The menu is short and to the point and I sort of like a place not having too many dishes. The beer menu is also fairly short but they have made a decent selection of beer but I think that they could benefit from adding a few more there. The wine list is actually surprisingly long for a burger place but I would assume that they will also try to get the afterwork crowd since they have a large outdoor area with evening sun(until around 8.30 or so) I went for the burger of the month, the poached egg and truffle burger and the royal with cheese was ordered by others around the table. The burgers come with fries but it is also possible to ask for a salad on the side. We actually went for one with salad and one with fries and split those. Was a good choice as there was a lot of fries. The patty that arrived was not really medium as they said they make them but it was still extremely juicy and flavorful. The egg and truffle burger was very good, although if I need to find a fault with it I would say it could be more truffle taste. The royal with cheese is a good cheese burger. The side salad was pretty good, a lot better than many burger places salads and the fries were also very good. So how does the burger compare to all the other burger joints popping up around Stockholm? It is not the best burger I had but it is definitely among the better ones. This is also more of a ‘restaurant’ burger than a ‘fast food’ burger so to me it more competes with the likes of Flying Elk and Oljebaren rather than Flippin, Käk and Svenska Hamburgerköket and as a restaurant burger it is one of the better in Stockholm. I would hold it above both Flying Elk and Oljebaren and also price-wise it is better as it is around 140SEK(139 for the royal and 145 for the burger of the month). I will probably be back a few times but if I really feel the need for s burger I would probably still head to Svenska Hamburgerköket instead.
