It was satisfactory meat, great side orders, and at first good service. We wanted desserts but weren’t asked about it; the staff seamed more interested in cleaning the tables than asking the customers for their satisfaction. People visiting La Parillla with me even seamed offended by the staff at times, either they where to attending or not interested enough. When the receipt arrived the had charged for two more drinks than we’d actually ordered, not an issue when noting it, but disturbing.

La Parrilla opened in Uppsala only a few months ago and was a great addition to the otherwise quite lackluster dining selection in town. I have dined here on a few occasions and think in general that they deliver on the food — but the service is really not on par with the price they charge. I’m a huge rib eye fan and I have gone for the same thing here and usually started out with an appetizer. The appetizers I’ve tried were the calamari(now removed from the menu) — they were waaaay too greasy with an excess of coating making it quite gross to eat. I’ve also tried the garlic seared shrimp and whilst it was tasty it was a very odd appetizer for my palate and with two shrimps for over 100SEK, it felt like a rip off. The rib eye was made well but was very tiny, around 200 grams for 330SEK, which in my opinion is way too high considering the quality of the meat they serve. They are charging higher prices than AG in Stockholm which undoubtedly is the best steakhouse in Sweden but can’t deliver even half of the taste or service. However, the flavors are all there and you get the steak paired with a large assortment of sides ranging from chimichurri to mashed potatoes. The service throughout all of my visits have been inattentive, and definitely not refined. I give them a strong 3, they have some things to refine and they boast great potential but they’re not really there yet.
