As the old saying goes, «You have to try everything, once.» That’s definitely the case when it comes to the Dublin City Pub in Affoltern. We talked about stopping for a beer or a Magners at Dublin City a couple of times. So, the other night as we were driving by, we decided to stop and see the place. Well, talk about a business that’s seen better days. When we walked in we were immediately assaulted with amazingly loud east Euro pop music and all the lights turned up to full brightness. The gal working the bar, while nice seemed as though she’d probably been previously employed at the strip club next door. We got our drinks and inquired about food. She gave me two menus, one theirs and one for the Thai Take-Away place nearby. She also mentioned that the majority of things are their menu were sold out. Weird. We’d just gotten our drinks so we opted to order Thai food. It came in due time and tasted just… O.K. Not good, not bad and we didn’t end up in the hospital. Meanwhile, an odd cast of people roamed in and out of the bar as the music volume gradually increased to the point of deafening(still the same bad east Euro pop). We semi-quickly finished our meals, paid(50 Francs +) and left. Unless I find myself in dire need for an Irish bar with Thai food, I don’t think I’ll ever step foot in the place again.
