Hotel Spalentor

Spalentor is a very nice hotel. Rooms are clean, modern and the beds are very comfortable. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ample with a good variety of foods.
Location is close to the old town and they give you a transportation pass.
Highly recommended!

Clean hotel with pleasant staff. Not a lot of bells & whistles but centrally located with easy walk to old Basel or bus stop to wherever you want to go. Tram/​Bus systems is excellent BTW. Full bar with snacks but no restaurant. They have a breakfast buffet which is average but convenient.

Visiting the Christmas Market in Basel, I had a very pleasant stay in this small comfortable hotel across the street from the old Spalentor city gate. Excellent breakfast buffet. Free wifi. Very modern, well-​equipped, clean rooms with mini-​bar, coffee machine that makes surprisingly good coffee, super comfortable bed. A small and quiet bar downstairs where you can sit and have a cappuccino or a glass of wine and read email or the newspaper. Fantastic location — just a few steps from the #3 tram to Barfüssplatz or the #30 bus to SBB Bahnhof. (When you check in, you get a pass for the city trams and buses that you can use to travel anywhere in the canton for free, and you can use Google maps for routing on the buses and trams). The hotel has a nice garden but the weather was drizzly so I did not get a chance to enjoy that. The only minor downside was that the walls of room 207 seemed rather thin. Could often hear water running or toilets flushing in adjacent rooms. Nevertheless, definitely recommended.

Nice Hotel in beautiful Basel. Very warm welcome and nice and cozy atmosphere. I was lucky to visit them on their 10^th anniversary and hence got a complementary shirt free. Its very close to the Basel SBB station.
The rooms are quite spacious and nicely decorated. not like the typical cramped small rooms in hotels. I specially loved their bed. very comfy. front desk very very accommodating and generous.
Free WiFi available and you also get a mobility ticket for your day of stay. With this mobility ticket you can travel any public transport in Basel. that certainly saves your conveyance cost. There is a small little bar which I visited after work and was delighted to relish a Swiss local beer… :) Not as compared to German beer but it was nice. They also have German Weiss beer if you want. But that day they ran out of it.
Overall a decent place and would deserve 4 star. Anyone visiting Basel, this could be my recommendation for stay.

Sehr schönes City-​Hotel, gut geeignet für Geschäftsreisende. Tram-​Haltestelle und Bus-​Haltestelle mit verschiedenen Linien direkt vor der Tür, ebenso Fussgängerzone in die historische Altstadt. Es lohnt sich, diese zu Fuß zu erkunden.
Da es sich um ein Garni-​Hotel handelt, kann man viele Restaurants in der unmittelbaren Umgebung besuchen.
Insgesamt für die Schweiz ein sehr gutes Preis-​Leistung-​Verhältnis.
Ich hatte ein sehr schönes grosses Zimmer Im Zimmer waren eine Mni-​Bar, sowie ein Wasserkocher mit verschiedenen Tee– und Kaffeesorten vorhanden.
Das Hotel bietet in seiner obersten Etage ein hervorragendes Frühstücksbuffett, an dem nichts fehlt, dazu hat man noch gratis einen wunderschönen Ausblick über die Stadt.
Durch seine günstige Lage (Tram direkt vor der Tür) kann man sehr gut mit dem Basel-​Ticket (im Zimmerpreis includiert) die Stadt erkunden. Parkplätze gibt es sehr wenige auf dem hoteleigenen Hof, dafür kann man gegen Gebühr das gegenüberliegende öffentliche Parkhaus nutzen. Es empfiehlt sich, in Basel generell das Auto stehen zu lassen und alles mit dem Basel-​Ticket zu bereisen.

Ein freundliches Hotel in einem Neubau, wie der Name schon sagt direkt am Spalentor. Also in der Nähe vom Uni– und Klinikviertel, nicht weit vom Zentrum. Aufgeschlagen bin ich hier, weil man auf Nachfrage recht preiswert ein Zimmer bekam, positiv überrascht wurde ich vor allem durch Kleinigkeiten: Das ganze Hotel ist seit diesem Jahr ein Nichtraucherhaus. Es verleiht kostenlos Fahrräder, die sich zur Erkundung von Basel hervorragend eignen. Und auch die kleine, hauseigene Bar bietet je nach Wetter Glacé (Eis) oder warme Getränke. Die Zimmer waren wirklich geräumig, nur eventuell etwas schlecht schallisoliert gegen andere Geräusche im Haus. Mich persönlich hat das allerdings noch nie gestört. Falls Bedarf besteht, würde ich wieder einkehren.
