Latini

I didn’t think this place was very expensive. A few streets down there are more Italian places with more expensive menu. At Latini the pasta a freshly made. I truly had the best carbonara in my life! And a good selection of wine.

we had dinner tonight with my partner, his boss and co-​worker, and it was fantastic. great service, awesome appetizers, wine and food… I only wish our party hadn’t been exhausted from working all day. conveniently located on falknerstrasse in the city center.

Great find. Veal and saffron risotto hit the spot. Truffle and ricotta pasta was delicious. Nice Barolo to pair with. Salad was good but nothing special.

Went back and ordered tuna steak main entrée with 2 sides (risotto). Was surprised by big portion (2 tuna steaks). This place gets quite busy during the weekday.

Es hat eine sehr schöné Bar dort zum gemütlich etwas Trinken gehen. Ich war zum Abendessen da und habe ein ganz feines Safranrisotto mit Rindsgschnätzletem, Torta Limona und einem tollen Rosato genossen, Käsereibe mit Parmesan. Die Bedienung ist ganz freundlich und zuvorkommend. Sehr zum Empfehlen.

Fantastic find a few steps from Barfusserplatz tram stop. Much larger you would expect if you just peered through the front window. But, very quaint and cozy with great service and delicious food. Our party of three opted for the tasting menu — 35 per person — and a very good bottle of 2007 Castello Banfi Brunello di Montalcino. Tasting menu:
— Tortellini in broth — pasta perfectly cooked; broth a bit too salty
— Arugula with tomatoes and shaved Parmesan dressed with balsamic and olive oil — simple and delicious
— Bruschetta 3 ways — tuna, olives, tomatoes — all very tasty w/​tuna being the favorite
— fettuccine — pasta is pasta
— garlic prawns — stand out dish
— veal with lemon and olive oil — simple and so good!
Ended the meal with panna cotta with berry coulis. Portions were spot-​on, service wasn’t rushed or too slow, and food was very good. Not much to complain about here.

Eine der top adressen in basel was italienische küche angeht. Die karte ist abwechslungsreich aber dennoch übersichtlich. Für eine pizza geht man nicht ins latini. Die gibts dort nämlich nicht. Somit wird das restaurant mit einladend mediteranem flair, nicht mit einer pizzeria verwechsel. Die gerichte sind nahezu alle hausgemacht. Die weinkarte bietet was das herz begehrt. Das freundlich personal rundet einen besuch im latini perfekt ab.
