Parterre One

A lovely spot to watch the World Cup game with Switzerland playing. Lovely outdoor terrace and it fronts a beautiful grass square.
The pork steak was nicely seasoned and the salads were super fresh. The wine selection is good. The beef filet was also well done. But the best thing about it is watching the world go by.

We loved Parterre when we were living in this city. Especially in summer, sitting outside with view on the old courtyard of the Kaserne. The service and wine-​recommendations did nearly always fit the menu. Last June we had the summer menu with a cold apricot-​soup with mint, which was maybe a bit sweet for a soup but perfect for a warm summer day. The main was lamb filet which was just right, rosé inside and juicy. It came with thyme-​polenta when I remember right and some Italian-​style roasted vegetable. And the dessert was amazing for this hot day: fresh herb-​sorbet in a cocktail of champaign and berries. The place is not the cheapest dining option in the city, but if you have guests or for a business dinner we recommend it without any restrictions.

Ein Berliner wird’s als gehobene Preisklasse empfinden, doch für Baseler Verhältnisse bekommt man hier relativ preiswert sehr lecker frische, ideenreiche, saisonale Gerichte in entspannter, angenehmer Atmosphäre. Die Karte ist kurz und so gut variiert, dass auch Vegetarier glücklich werden. Aber das ist noch nicht alles: Im Restaurant wird auch Kunst ausgestellt und in den diversen angeschlossenen Gebäuden finden regelmäßig Kulturveranstaltungen statt.
