A small food stand set up in the daily market. They serve up their namesake — Piadina — which is thin Italian flatbread with fresh cheese, meat and veg. The menu items read off like a cross between pizzas and subs, like the Caprese(which I got) with mozzarella, fresh tomatoes, and basil to the Prosciutto crudo, which is ham, obviously. Everything is fresh, well-portioned and delicious. However being Switzerland, it’s also punishingly expensive. You’d be forgiven for thinking that street food at a market would be somewhat cheap, but the Piadinas range from 8 — 16 francs, which almost directly translates to $ 8 — 16USD. Still, it’s one of the cheapest lunches you can get in Basel.
