Restaurant Picobello

So glad I dropped into this place. It was just a few steps from my hotel and it was pretty quiet when I first arrived. However, I soon learned that I was just early and within 30 minutes it quickly filled.
Location — Lovely! Conveniently located and amazing views of the River with huge picture windows, so even if you’re not seated right AT the window, you’ll still enjoy the view.
Ambiance– friendly and inviting. Colors were bright and the place had an overall modern feel to it.
Service — waiters were very friendly and helpful, without being overbearing. While service wasn’t particularly fast, after receiving initial salad and beverage. Then received the focaccia, that’s when they got pretty packed — so the main course took a while longer. Almost so long I got too full from the salad & bread as I was starving upon arrival.
Food — whatever spritzer they recommended was divine and utterly refreshing!
The salad was ok, typical green salad — which I inhaled as I was starving… didn’t seem as «fresh» as I would have liked, but was ok.
The dish they served as garlic focaccia was, I will admit, different from what I expected — which is maybe why I was a little disappointed. It was essentially a thin pizza crust baked with drizzled olive oil and garlic. But again, I was starving and eagerly awaiting my lasagna… waiting…and I ate it. Not bad, but — not fulfilling.
The lasagna — I was almost too full to eat at this point because, despite my best efforts to not eat all of the «focaccia» — it took so long, it could not be helped. However, I was so pleasantly surprised to find that it was most certainly worth the wait! It was just the perfect balance of meat, pasta and cheesy, heavenly deliciousness. If I were staying somewhere it could be reheated, I would have ordered another for later!
Overall, I loved this place! Would definitely come back here in the future.

Love this place!!! The staff was friendly. The food was excellent and the view was amazing.

I ate a pizza which was good but we also ordered the carpaccio trio… ooh, it was so thick and almost not edible to me. My friend who lives in town goes there a lot and he says it really good, so I will have to give it another try based on the better reviews here than mine. The view was great and the waiter, very nice.

First restaurant I visited on my trip to Switzerland. Good service, nice wine and great food. Split the Gamberoni Pizza and the Lamb — both really great and so accommodating to splitting with my mom.

Great location, good food. If you are looking for a casual Italian option close to downtown, this would be my recommendation. You will remember the view of the Rhine even if you don’t write home about the food!

Nice lunch/​dinner on the rhine. Centrally located. We all had pizza. Very thin crust and delicious. Local beer and wines. The view was fantastic as well

Die Location, Ausstattung und die Terrasse sind einfach genial. Mit wunderschönem Rheinblick und einer kühlen Brise lässt sich so der warme Sommerabend super geniessen. Das Essen war ausgesprochen lecker wenngleich auch entsprechend der Lage relativ teuer.
Das Personal war sehr aufmerksam und wir fühlten uns super bedient. So macht Gastronomie Spass der einzige Minuspunkt: Auf der Terrasse ist es doch sehr eng und wenn es voll ist, wird es ziemlich laut. Trotzdem 5 Sterne wegen der Aussicht.

Ich hab jetzt mehere Male im Picobello gegessen. Ich hab mich ein bisschen durch die Karte gegessen und kann sagen, dass das Angebot super ist! Das bestellte Essen war immer
Besten jedoch empfinde ich die Pizza Salmone! Die Einrichtung empfinde ich als zweckmässig aber nicht sonderlich bequem! Dafür lohnt sich ein Essen im Pifobello schon alleine wegen der Aussicht auf den Rhein. Um das zu geniessen muss man aber zwingend reservieren.

Gestern war ich mit der Familie zum zweiten Mal im Picobello nachdem es uns um Vortag schon so gut gefallen hat.
Das Ambiente ist hell, gepflegt und man hat eine sehr schöné Aussicht auf den Rhein.
Alle Kellner waren außerordentlich freundlich und aufmerksam, das Restaurant ist zudem sehr kinderfreundlich. Nach dem Essen gab es für alle anwesenden Kinder ein Überraschungsei, große Begeisterung allenthalben. Das Essen war an beiden Tagen hervorragend. Wir hatten Pizza und Pasta sowie als Vorspeise Vitello Tonnato. Die Pizzen knusprig und gerade richtig belegt, die Pasta pikant und lecker angerichtet dazu gab es einen guten sardischen Rotwein.
In den zweiten Stock haben wir nur einen kurzen Blick geworfen, es gibt dort eine sehr schöné Terrasse auf der Rheinseite, ein Antipastibuffet und eine riesige Weinauswahl, offensichtlich aber auch alle Speisen aus dem Restaurant. Die Preise sind auf normalen Schweizer Niveau, soll heißen im EUR Raum würde man dafür sehr gehoben speisen ;-) bei der gebotenen Qualität hat es uns jedoch kein bisschen geschmerzt.

Empfehlenswert. Im Parterr typisch italienisch. Im 1. Stock gemütliches Ambiente. Bedienung aufmerksam und freundlich. Wurde mir persönlich empfohlen und ich kann es nur weiterempfehlen.

The food, setting and service here are fine, even good, but not great IMO. I prefer Filini’s or Latini’s for my Italian food in Basel. Of course, being a part of the Three Kings hotel, the quality is very good, but I am put off by the prices for a simple pasta and sauce or plain uninspiring pizza. Worth a try if you are a real Italian food fan

Tolles italienisches Restaurant mit sehr gutem Vorspeisenbuffet (1. Stock). Sehr gute Weinempfehlungen und sehr freundliche Bedienungen! Jederzeit gerne wieder.

Das Restaurant ‘Picobello’ liegt im Zentrum von Basel. Es bietet italienische Spezialitäten an. Die Inneneinrichtung ist wirklich gelungen, zudem sieht man von den Fensterplätzen direkt auf den Rhein. Ab 18.00 Uhr ist der Pizzabäcker vor Ort. Das Essen ist sehr lecker und richtig italienisch. Der Service ist meist auch freundlich, hat jedoch zwischendurch auch rabenschwarze Tage. Insgesamt ein geeignetes Restaurant, um schnell, aber doch lecker essen zu gehen.

Mal ganz schnell Essen gehen bevor es zum Flughafen geht. Als kleine Verabschiedung unserer Gäste wirklich Ideal. Hätten wir für Sonntag Abend reserviert hätten wir auch noch einen Platz direkt mit Blick auf den Rhein bekommen. Hätten, hätten.
Pizza lecker, Pasta lecker, Lasangne lecker. Mehr haben wir nicht probiert. Die Kellner nicht übermässig schnell aber mit einem Spässchen war alles wieder gut. Ich glaube es gibt auch eine gute Weinkarte, denn direkt darüber gibt es ein Weinkontor :-)
Anmerkung: Der Pizzabäcker ist ab 18:00 Uhr da. Vorher gibts alles andere wie Pasta, Salate, Fisch, Fleisch,…
