This is just regarding the aperitivo on wednesday, The food is pretty ok for Lugano standards, too bad it’s served at such a cold temperature that it’s almost impossible to taste anything, considering it’s 90% fried food, so it’s impossible to enjoy it when cold. Also, the place is too crowded plus it’s too cold to stay outside in the winter.

This review is for the café/bakery only. We stayed in a hotel almost directly next door to the Gabbani. It took us about a day to figure out that the ground floor stellar bakery/café and adjacent cheese shop is actually part of Gabbani hotel just above. Directly down the pedestrian walkway is the Gabbani butcher shop where one can also purchase amazing sandwiches made, of course, with Gabbani’s great selection of bread, cheese and meat. The café space is light and airy. We sat almost directly underneath a very large skylight while nibbling on a small breakfast of eggs and toast with orange juice and coffee.(We had missed the continental breakfast buffet – cheaper if one is a guest at the hotel, obviously.) Our fare was decent, but not fab. The whole vibe of the place, however, would prompt me to return.
